Congressman Duncan Hunter to host fundraiser for Quang Pham

Congressman Duncan Hunter, who represents the 52nd District, in San Diego, is going to be speaking at an upcoming luncheon in support of his fellow Republican, Quang Pham, who is running for the 47th Congressional District.

Hunter is a real American hero.  Here are a few excerpts from his bio:

Hunter is a native of San Diego.  He graduated from Granite Hills High School in El Cajon and earned a degree in Business Administration from San Diego State University.  Hunter worked to pay for his education by creating websites and programming databases and ecommerce systems for high-tech companies.  Immediately after graduation, he went to work full time in San Diego as a Business Analyst. Reminder, Denny's free Grand Slam tomorrow!

A “public service” reminder from the Orange Juice

For those who watched the Super Bowl you should have seen the Denny’s ad of a free Grand Slam breakfast between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. that you can enjoy at many of their participating locations. While they surely lose money on this ad, you will end up paying around $2.00 for a cup of coffee or other drinks that will offset most of the actual cost. Santa Ana Goon Enlisted to Attack Shawn Nelson

When you get beyond the personal appearance issues things really start to get unattractive…

The Tom Daly For Supervisor campaign being operated out of the back of the Mauve County blog offices enlisted an unlikely stooge today in an attack on Fullerton’s Shawn Nelson.

The individual’s name is Thomas Anthony Gordon (pictured, below), a participant in the byzantine and highly bitter world of Santa Ana politics. We had to do some digging to find out who this individual even was, and why he has all of a sudden taken an interest in the 4th Supervisorial District election.

The gist of Gordo’s post is that Nelson is a defense attorney, and because Nelson works to get his clients acquitted he is “soft on crime” and hence unfit to be a Supervisor. Some logic, huh?

High speed rail in CA must be justified

In the transportation section of USA TODAY’s newspaper the headline reads “China’s fast trains may offer tips for us.” A word of caution. Before getting too enamored by bringing underfunded high-speed rail to California we must each set aside emotions and engage in a cost-benefit analysis including all key factors.

China’s newest 664 mile high speed rail connects Guangzhou and Wuhan, two major cities. The USA TODAY story confirms “Guangzhou is one of China’s richest cities, an export powerhouse whose thousands of factories manufacture many of the items found in an average US home. Wuhan is a Yantzee River port and central China’s major industrial center.”

We visited Wuhan just prior to the Olympic Games and can speak from personal observation that it is a huge metropolis where the inner city has 7 million residents while the population of San Francisco is around 800,000. I am not able to establish the daily work force of either city at this time which might impact daily commuting alternatives. However, the Chinese bullet train serving these two cities will provide a three to four hour trip for international business travelers rather than unpredictable tourism to San Francisco or Sacramento. I question how many daily riders our system will actually achieve. Continue reading High speed rail in CA must be justified

MV mayor MacLean asks for recount and threatens ROV

Mission Viejo Mayor Lance MacLean, who lost the “special” recall election in Mission Viejo by 19 votes, is asking for a recount. According to the ROV this effort will commence at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. As of now I am unable to report what areas of the total ballots cast will be under review. Stay tuned.

Update: The editor of the Mission Viejo Dispatch just confirmed some other aspects to this recount request that can be found at www.missionviejodispatch.com

Cutting to the chase: Continue reading MV mayor MacLean asks for recount and threatens ROV

FibOC Says: Homosexual = Negative

According to the frivolous lawsuit filed against the Orange Juice and Art Pedroza by the Liberal OC and related sycophants they are claiming that referring to someone as a “homosexual” or inferring that someone may be a “homosexual” is a ”negative”.  I find it rather shocking that folks who claim to be progressive would view someone that is gay or thought to be gay in a “negative” light.

The lawsuit states, “on or about November 2009 Pedroza published negative material about (Ryan) TRABUCO…that claimed TRABUCO was homosexual.”

I don’t know about you, but if I know that someone is gay or think that someone may be gay that does not lead me to view them in a negative way.  Someones sexual preference is of no concern to me when it comes to my opinion of that person.  I guess it does however matter to the boys at FibOC.  Clearly they see the label “homosexual” as a bad thing, a slur.

Hide and Seek Harrry On The Move Again. Claims New Address.

Adios, Harry. We hardly knew ye.

Not to be outdone by fellow 4th District Supervisor campaign carpetbagger and multiple address occupier Lorri Galloway, Harry Sidhu has pulled up stakes again and abandoned his address at the beautiful Calabria Apartments, #106. The Registrar of Voters verbally confirmed the switcheroo this morning.

Santa Ana 3rd Best City in American to Find Love

Using a detailed statistical analysis The Daily Beast has found Santa Ana to 3rd best place to find love amongst 104 American cities.

It must be the Santa Ana winds

Santa Ana beat Miami,  Austin,  San Francisco and (of course) Los Angelese as a better  place to find the match of your dreams due to is large number of singles,  large number of bars and restaurants, high marriage rate and low  divorce  rate.  With Valentine’s day around the corner, The Daily Beast even suggests a romantic hotspot:  Ambrosia.

The survey may be suspect, however: Anaheim came in second, with the ?romantic? hotspot of  The White House.   Are you taking notes, Gustavo?

p.s.  The picture is from a popular flickr page extolling “i love the santa ana winds they make me feel crazy and beautiful all at the same time.”

Sidhu's Wacky News Tribune Ad

But he doesn't even live in our district, does he?

I came across this sort of goofy Harry Sidhu political ad in the News Tribune the other day, repeating the mantra of his paid blog monkeys that Sidhu has “represented” 40% of the 4th County Supervisorial District by being on the Anaheim City Council.

Harry and his “team” must be really concerned that the carpetbagger label is sticking. It is, and it will, because that’s what he is. But that’s only part of the problem. The other issue is whether Sidhu even lives in the District at all

ACORN Chief Quits Working Families Party amid perjury and campaign finance abuse charges

Drip, Drip, Drip. That’s the sound of inevitability. A tale of corruption here, a tale of prostitution there, charges of perjury and vote corruption here and there. That’s the tale of ACORN.

A little background. The Working Families Party is the not-disguised political front for unions, socialists, communists and progressives who for one reason or another have not found the Democrat Party to be radical enough. The embattled ACORN CEO, Bertha Lewis, has stepped down as New York State co-chair of WFP as it prepares to go to New York Federal Court in Staten Island on charges of voter registration fraud, vote fraud, election tampering, etc…

Really, the sum of it is this. The WFP is the political arm of Data & Field Services Corporation. That’s right. Socialists and Communists are tied up with corporatism.

The 'My Way' Killings (New York Times)

Sinatra Song Often Strikes Deadly Chord

GENERAL SANTOS, the Philippines — After a day of barbering, Rodolfo Gregorio went to his neighborhood karaoke bar still smelling of talcum powder. Putting aside his glass of Red Horse Extra Strong beer, he grasped a microphone with a habitué’s self-assuredness and briefly stilled the room with the Platters’ “My Prayer.”

Next, he belted out crowd-pleasers by Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck. But Mr. Gregorio, 63, a witness to countless fistfights and occasional stabbings erupting from disputes over karaoke singing, did not dare choose one beloved classic: Frank Sinatra’s version of “My Way.”

“I used to like ‘My Way,’ but after all the trouble, I stopped singing it,” he said. “You can get killed.”

The authorities do not know exactly how many people have been killed warbling “My Way” in karaoke bars over the years in the Philippines, or how many fatal fights it has fueled. But the news media have recorded at least half a dozen victims in the past decade and includes them in a subcategory of crime dubbed the “My Way Killings.”

The killings have produced urban legends about the song and left Filipinos groping for answers. Are the killings the natural byproduct of the country’s culture of violence, drinking and machismo? Or is there something inherently sinister in the song?

City of Santa Ana plans a high-rise district near the train station

Santa Ana Transit Zone

There are big changes planned for the City of Santa Ana.  City officials recently debuted their plans for the “Transit Zone” which was formerly called the Renaissance Plan area.

“The new development rules at the heart of the city’s proposal would clear the way for more than 4,000 new homes and some 387,000 new square feet of shops and eateries. It would create a new high-rise district near the train station, with towers as tall as 25 stories,” according to the O.C. Register.

Guy Ball, a Santa Ana historian, commented about this plan thusly, on the Register’s website:

Prevatt admits that Lib OC attack on Pedroza was political retribution

Daly’s mistake triggered Dan Chmielewski’s attack on Art Pedroza

Gustavo Arellano set the bait on the hook, and the Liberal OC’s Chris Prevatt bit.  Prevatt responded to a post by Arellano, over at the OC Weekly, about the Liberal OC’s federal lawsuit against Orange Juice blogger Art Pedroza with a comment that included this excerpt, where Prevatt explained why his fellow Lib OC blogger Dan Chmielewski bought the URL www.artpedroza.com:

That was done only after Pedroza crowed about Tom Daly being so stupid for not buying up a bunch of domain names related to offices he hoped to run for.

True - Pedroza did poke fun at Daly for not buying the URLs relevant to his campaign for County Supervisor.  FFFF blogger Tony Bushala bought one of them and pointed it to a graphic that explained that Daly is a career politician.  You can see that graphic atop this post.
