Weymouth resigns post as Executive Director of the OC GOP

I just received a note from an OC GOP insider that Kay Weymouth has resigned as Executive Director of the OC GOP. That is quite a blow for the party, heading into the primary election. I don’t know why she resigned, but I do know she is a solid conservative and a very classy person. I wish her the best in her future endeavors.

   Kay is a wonderful lady. I’m not surprised if she is leaving after the last few months. Shame on Scott Baugh if he is the reason.

   she was never the executive director. she was always the “interim” executive director — read between the lines.

   Rumor is Ken Maddox is going to be the next ED.

   I have heard that they have narrowed down the final list of candidates to Ken Maddox, Lupe Moreno, Virgil Nichol, and Lisa Jaramillo. I believe they have all completed the written but must still pass the oral exam.

   No kidding! I have four kids and my wife works nights most of the week. Oh well, we Republicans aren’t supposed to be known for our crazy sex lives. I’ll leave that to Tom Umberg and Bill Clinton…not to mention Claudia Alvarez! OK – apologies to all of them – I just couldn’t help it…

   At any rate, we don’t know why Kay quit – but I think we can all agree that this does not look good for the OC GOP. Baugh is the head man, so the responsibility falls on him. I have already called on him to step down, so I don’t need to repeat that request…

   Scott Baugh only cares about getting advocacy contracts. The party is just a little tool he uses to help himself. Where is Mike Capizzi when you need him.

    The last straw for Kay Weymouth was the Executive Committee meeting in which she observed Scott Baugh’s childish behavior towards Tim Whitacre and the reluctance of other members in attendance to speak up.

    She was totally disgusted over the Mike Carona debacle and was asked to lie to support the scandalous re-vote and attempt to character assassinate Tim Whitacre for his defense of the by-laws. Of course being the lady of character that she is, Kay politely and firmly refused.

    Instead, she has decided that she can no longer stomach the smoke-filled, backroom dealings of the small group who hold the OCGOP hostage to their personal agendas.

    Way to go Kay Weymouth!!!

    You and Tim should start the “Real Republican Party” and see how many folks join you. There’s a lot of disgust out there over what took place on behalf of Carona.

    By the way, everybody should do two things to help dismantle the “king makers” in OC:

    1. Vote for Lt. Bill Hunt for Sheriff.

    2. Write-in “Mike Capizzi” for District Attorney.

    I think it’s an absolute shame that Kay Weymouth would feel that she has to resign. She’s been one of the best ED’s the Party has had. Scott should not accept her resignation and should instead back her up against that small clique of malcontents that keep attacking her!
