Yesterday, after the OC GOP Central Committee meeting, I met with Ryan Flynn, the campaign manager for Tan Nguyen, the GOP candidate who is taking on Loretta Sanchez for the 47th Congressional District. He had an interesting tale to tell.
Apparently some of Nguyen’s mailers have been received late – as late as a month after being dropped off at various post offices – or never received at all in Santa Ana. The Nguyen campaign had no problems with the post offices in Anaheim, Garden Grove, and Fullerton. However the mailers dropped off at Santa Ana post offices either were never delivered or were delivered late. The matter has been remanded to the FBI for investigation.
Some of our readers might remember that back when Sanchez was first elected, there was a lot of talk about fraud – could it be that her supporters are up to their old tricks again? I am surmising that some of the postal workers in Santa Ana are working overtime to help Sanchez. If the FBI is able to find a connection to the Sanchez campaign, color her finished!
In related news, the Nguyen campaign is hosting a golf tournament fundraiser on October 5, at the Meadowlark Golf Course in Huntington Beach. If you are interested in sponsoring the event, or attending, call the campaign office at (714) 530-1612. You can attend the luncheon only, which starts at 1 pm, if you are not a golfer, for $50.

Ay Arturo-
There you go again, seeing figures in the shadows of the grassy knoll!
First, what would Loretta have to gain from Tan’s victory in the June election? If anyone had anything to gain from slowing his mail in a Republican Primary , it would be your pal RosaMaria Avila. Perhaps Ms. Avila is the one in cahoots with the Santa Ana post office.
As for the “talk about fraud” it seems to come only from you and your cohorts these days. Congresswoman Sanchez has proved her political acumen by winning time and time again in this district.
By the way, Art, what happened to your conspiracy theory with respect to Pulido’s ballot statement?
I guess it all fits with your reputation if just taking shots in the dark and hoping some of them stick with voters.
Publius,
Primary? The mailers in question have been disappearing post-primary. They are new mailers.
As for Pulido’s ballot statement, I could have carried that fight further, as I had more evidence on hand, but I decided to focus on the issues instead and leave the investigating to the media. As one would expect, they did not run with it.
At any rate, if there is nothing to this story, then you and Loretta’s other supporters have nothing to fear. Otherwise, I am sure the FBI will let us all know what they find out.
another bad attempt at headlines by tans campaign. not even the right wing oc register will touch one of his made up stories. this guy is terrible
Believe what you will, but Loretta has endeared herself to her constituents. She is a Populist and will win again and again and again. Or at least until a U.S. Senate seat opens up.
Big bulk mailings are often delayed. I’ve been involved with a few, including some completely non-political ones, that postal workers apparently started using as temporary furniture.
I don’t know what the solution is, but I really don’t think conspiracies are involved.
My bad, Art.
I assumed Tan’s staff/consultants/etc would have the sense not to send campaign mailers in the middle of summertime.
Voters aren’t focused on elections and won’t be until well after Labor Day. Earlier isn’t always better.
But I guess they have plenty of Tan’s money to waste.
Tan’s campaign pieces have been the penultimate in sleaze. His attempts to sleaze Loretta have been laughable in execution and logic. If he was to be hit with the same logic in attack pieces, it would sound something like this:
Tan is Vietnamese.
Ho Chi Minh was vietnamese.
Ho Chi Minh was a communist.
What does Tan have to hide?
We are not afraid to tell it like it is.
ahhahaha! great last post. “tan tells it like it is”. this guy will be the butt of many future oc political jokes for years to come, after he decides to run against the rest of the oc delegation,
