A few years ago the Coca Cola company decided to change its formula to better compete with Pepsi. The new coke was a total bust! The company lost millions, and lost market share to Pepsi, and eventually they fired their CEO and went back to the old Coke. Customers were so happy that sales went through the roof when Classic Coke was put on the shelves. Ironically, most people in blind taste tests agreed that the new Coke tasted better.
Similiarly, we tried something new this week, with regard to posts, and it does not appear to be working. We were hoping to clean up our anon posts after someone ripped one of our bloggers and took it too far by writing about his family. In turn, one of our readers over-reacted and started dropping F-bombs. I was hoping that limiting posts to those who register with blogger.com would do the trick, but apparently it is too difficult to do this. So we are going back to moderating posts.
I have reminded our blog team that I will not tolerate anon posts from them – you, our readers, may certainly choose to write in anon format, but I ask you to keep it clean. The anon lady who flipped out yesterday actually threatened me with assault. That is going way over the line. I have a thick skin, but none of us at the Orange Juice should have to see our families dragged through the mud, or face threats of violence.
Thank you for reading our blog – we will endeavor to keep up our countywide coverage as we near Election Day. Look to us for post-election coverage as well. This has been a most interesting cycle thus far, and I suspect it will be an exciting finish.
