Santa Ana 7-11 robbed a few miles away from Pulido’s home

Posted by: Art Pedroza  :  Category: Fresh Juice, SA City Council, Santa Ana, crime

So much for crime going down in Santa Ana.  I was out walking precincts today when I got the call that a robbery had taken place at a 7-11 located at Flower St. and 17th St.  I got there and was able to interview a number of local residents.  They said that an unknown quantity of money was stolen from the 7-11 by a fellow with a bandanna covering his face.

Apparently the miscreant took off down the street when a police officer responded to the scene - I am told that the clerk somehow had notified the police.  Two shots were fired, according to the witnesses I spoke to.  The O.C. Register is reporting that the suspect was shot.  I did not see any visible evidence of that, but it was hard to see as the entire portion of Flower from 15th to 17th was closed to the public by the police.

Two crime scene investigations rolled up just as Channel 7’s news van drove up.  I spoke briefly to the cameraman.  When I told him we have just one public library he was incredulous.  That’s the reaction I get from most people!

Another violence filled day in Santa Ana.  Remember this when Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido and his bogus “leadership” team knock on your door.  They are failing in every way.  The criminals have become so brazen that they are now robbing stores in broad daylight that are mere miles from our police department - and not far from Pulido’s own house in Floral Park.

Incidentally, I picked up quite a few votes talking to the folks at the scene.  And all of them said they were voting for Michele Martinez for Mayor.  They were all fans of Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez too.  I was asked many times if I know her.  I was glad to be able to say I just saw her last night at the ECCO dinner.

Somebody told me that there was a police chase down Greenleaf Street a couple of weeks ago it happened about 2:00am in the morning and it was a escalade how come this wasn’t in the newspaper? Greenleaf ends at Pulido’s property, well I’m figuring that the injunction was put in the wrong area of Santa Ana.

    Art,

I get the same reaction about the one library in this City of over 400,000 residents.

It seems the only ones not appauled by this fact are the Mayor, Executive statff, Council members that support the Mayor, the leadership team and all other public and private supportes of the Mayor. How can they support this crime on education.

Remember he has been Mayor for 12 years with no change on this EMBARRASMENT to the largest City in Orange County. Anaheim the next largest City has 8 libraries to serve their residents.

They care, the result is the dramatic contrasts between the two cities.

Change in this government means movement towards what a city like Anaheim has accomplished.

Do as Jim Walker has asked. VOTE FOR YOURSELVES.

“I have witnessed our city’s problems firsthand both on the Housing & Redevelopment Commission and the Public Library Board”

O.k, swell, so why didn’t you do anything about the lack of libraries then? In fact, didn’t you quit your positions here? You do a very good job of pointing out the obvious, which quite frankly a child could do, but offer little to nothing in terms of solutions. Let me ask you, would you tell everyone to blame Cal Trans for traffic accidents should you witness one?

The haziness of your logic continues.

Insofar as your dentist friend suggests, the true nature of Santa Ana’s blight and greatest challenges are not being looked upon honestly either.

    5th Horseman,

Good question. Actually when I was on the Library Board I did accomplish quite a bit. I conducted a citywide book drive, in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce. I also was able to convince the LA Times to designate Santa Ana as a “Reading City.” The last thing I did was write a plan to open new libraries. When I submitted that to the Library Director, my term was up. And suddenly the City Council decided NOT to re-appoint me to the Library Board. I was dismissed and given a city tile for my years of service. That is when I realized that Pulido and company did not want change - they did not want new libraries. Ever since that day I have been opposing the lot of them.

As for traffic accidents, there are many factors involved. As a Defensive Driving Instructor for the Naitonal Safety Council I teach driving safety and fleet safety and I am quite familiar with this subject. Most accidents involve rushing, fatigue, complacency or frustration. We often take our eye off the ball, or drive too fast, and pay the price for it. Vehicle accidents remain the number one source of fatalities in this country.

As for pointing out the obvious, the fact is our city leaders are evasive and they often refuse to address the obvious. There is a tale called the “Emperor with no Clothes” which addresses this issue. We strive to point out the problems that our city leaders would prefer we not talk about. That is the only way we will make any progress in this city.

    5th Horseman,

A commissioner can not make policy. A commissioner can only advice the council through a majority vote on the commission body.

Don’t pass the buck from the responsible party - the Mayor and the other council members.

Why don’t you just say what you mean.

“Don’t blame Cal Trans for traffic accidents if you should witness one” . I get it, you compare people in traffic accidents to Hispanics in Santa Ana. They both are responsible for their injuries and the collateral damage.

Do not blame the structures which make policy. A Interesting and stupid comparison.

You and others that support Pulido think as I have stated earlier that the
City’s Hispanics are the true nature of Sana Ana’s blight and greatest challenges.

Stand tall on your horse soldier and say it straight out. Don’t hide the thought and battle cry that explains the neglect and purposeful mismanagement of the city.

There you have it. Some of you readers thought I was making this stuff up.

5th Horseman is but one of many responsible for what the city leadership does and does not do.

The Hispanic community is not responsible for Santa Ana’s true nature of the blight and greatest challenges.

Anaheim has a similar Hispanic population to Santa Ana’s. If it is about Hispanics as you suggest then Anaheim would be in the say dire situation as Santa Ana.

The educational, economic and infrastructure contrasts between the two cities are alarming.

Everyone in the city should be extremely angry over this mismanagement.

The Hispanic community angry for the neglect and disrespect.

The other communities angry (along with the Hispanic community) for the affect of lowering their quality of life due to the dis-service and manipulation of the Hispanic community.

    5th Horsewoman -

History has proven you are a woman of action. Your steadfast commitment to disallow residents from voting on a neighborhood traffic plan was overturned by the courts. You’re still smarting from that public spanking because, golly,
geez, what’s the U.S.Constitution got to do with it. Your intense dislike of Mexicans supercedes everything.

Pulido has been on the city council for nearly 2 decades. The question on the kitchen table - - - are we better off?

    It’s time for a change.

  8. Hubert Says:

Its about time the despotic tyrant is deposed. Pulido is only on the job to serve his own self interest. His salary as mayor is secure so why should he care about everyone else especially the hispanic majority in his midst. Its quite applaling the level of neglect that Santa Aners have tolerated. Pulido has to be the worst mayor Santa Ana has ever had. I that Santa Ana’s motto is supposed to be “Eduction First”. Since Pulido’s reign Santa Ana has been in steady decline for the worst. How can the largest city in Orange county have only 1 library? Libraries keep children busy. Knowledge inspires youth to better themselves. And what about crime? I just cant believe Pulidos rhetoric on his campaign adverstisements for another term. Enough is enough. Time to bring in
a real and caring candidate like Michelle Martinez. Im sure she willl do a far better job than the tyrant that now rules Santa Ana.
