Another shooting in Santa Ana, this morning

Just in time for tomorrow night’s Santa Ana Mayor and City Council installation, “A man was shot multiple times in the 100 block of Harbor Boulevard this morning.”  He was shot at 8:26 a.m. – during the morning rush hour! According to Google.com, the shooting happened right by a mini mall (see picture above).

“The circumstances of the shooting are not yet know,” according to the O.C. Register. Hmmm…I’m thinking gang violence?

Let’s see if Mayor Miguel Pulido mentions this (I doubt it) when he is sworn in tomorrow night at 6 p.m. at the Santa Ana Council Chambers.  Be sure to ask him if our city is still one of the “safest cities in Orange County,” as he touted in his campaign materials this year.

Every day if anybody wants to see reality show type drug dealing go to park across the street for the Gaudalaja Resturant on 1st Street.

If you park across the street, almost every 115 minutes or so you can witness a live drug transaction.

Sometimes you get competing dopr peddlers fighting each other or see some fat crack addict prostitute get picked up here for all the “Juans”.

Who knows might even see Congressman Calvert picking up one of those working girls since I have not heard he has received any treatment for his taste for “lady’s of the night”.

But get this even if you call the cops, maybe 20 minutes later the cops will do a drive by, drug peddlers stash their drugs in the plants along the resturant, while separating and start wlaking in different directions, and the cop just stares and leaves.

Perhaps we could do something and have a live feed at the Orange Juice of the problem areas in Santa Ana so everyone caould see the problems and wonder why nothing is getting done to resolve this issue.

    Here’s my idea.

OCTA needs to remove the bus bench at this corner and the bus bench across the street. Next, the Resturant needs to make the three foot wall in front of the resturant so that these guys can’t sit there all day. Lastly, fix up the old rescue mission behind the resturant and convert it into a police substation.

I like the idea of setting up hidden cameras in these problem area hot spots and putting the live footage online. Law enforcement would then have access to something they couldn’t seem to do on their own. Pretty embarrassing…

It seems a little “Big Brother” to have cameras broadcasting footage of known crime spots on the internet. When do they put cameras in our homes? After a traffic ticket or late payment of a bill?

Still, cameras at ATM’s, and intersections have been nothing but beneficial and they haven’t become too widespread.

I guess its the slippery slope of going from a free country to a not free country that worries me. I’ve been OK with a little less freedom to avoid chaos but worry that when we start chipping away at it with internet surveillance where will we stop?

How about attaching GPS to everyone so we know where everyone is? Or cameras watching the streets at every intersection? Where does it end?

    Lavinia,

I hope he is okay. Can you update us on his condition? Was he targeted by gang members?
