Ethically Challenged Janet To Be Vice-Chair???

Matt Cunningham of Red County is reporting that Pat Bates will be elected Chair of the Orange County Board of Supervisors at the January 13th meeting replacing John Moorlach. So the next question is who will replace Bates as Vice-Chair? Cunningham opines that he believes that it will be Bill Campbell but there are rumors floating around that Janet Nguyen wants the position as well.
Janet’s questionable ethics were most recently uncovered by our very own Art Pedroza when he reported on her blatant conflict of interest regarding the restaurant grading system vote by the Board of Supervisors. As you may remember Janet voted against the grading system and in doing so it benefited her husband Tom Bonikowski, Chief of Staff Andrew Do, mentor Tony Lam and scores of campaign contributors that all own restaurants that have been cited for health code violations.

During her short time in office Janet has used her position to pander for votes and pay back her contributors and of course suck up to the Republicans. She fought to build a bridge in Westminster to benefit her big money backer Frank Jao despite the fact that the city council there did not want and did so at the expense of the city of Santa Ana’s roads. She has wasted taxpayer money by opening a satellite office in Little Saigon just to pander for votes. And lets not forget she stabbed law enforcement officials and local elected’s in the back when she backed Sandra Hutchens over Paul Walters because a bunch of rich Republican women wanted her to.
I for one don’t want to see her in this position. I don’t think she deserves nor has she earned it. Other than Chris Norby, this group is a motley bunch and Janet is by far the worst. I can only hope that the next time she comes up for re-election the Democrats will have someone in place to take her out and send her to make sandwiches at her hubby’s restaurant or better yet she can clean the place up so they can stop getting health code violations.

Sean,
I believe that these positions are doled out by seniority. I can remember if Bill Campbell held any of the leadership positions before. But if he hasnt than I would wager he would get it. If he has then janet may very well be in line for this job. I say this because its to my best memory that these chair and vice chair spots are rotated based on seniority and janet may very well be next in line.

I believe Campbell has been Chair two years in a row during his terms, breaking the tradition of annual rotation. Since Bates reportedly spent $2.5 million of her own money in her campaign to get elected, maybe the county should put the chairmanship out to bid so the county’s revenue stream can be enhanced. “What am I bid for the prestigious, but ceremonial, position? How about it, Ms. Bates?”

Mr. Mill, aren’t you too considered profusely unethical by your peers?

#3,
That’s laugh - there are few folks in town as unethical as the Usual Suspects.
Sean won’t BS you. He will tell you what he thinks and leave it at that.
If you are looking for a real ethics violator look no further than Councilman Carlos Bustamante.

“Sean won’t BS you. He will tell you what he thinks and leave it at that.”…. said Mr. Pedroza.
I have in my possession a copy of the email written by Mr. Mill, in his capacity as the Santa Ana Commissioner, in which he is challenging recipient to a physical fight.
I recall that you too Mr. Pedroza have alleged that the Commissioner Mill was threatening you to destroy database of this blog.
So who is unethical?… You Mr. Pedroza or the Commissioner Mill?

#5,
It wasn’t Sean that tried to hurt this blog - it was your pal Thomas.
Mill has been a good member of this blog since he returned and he has been an exemplary City Commissioner.

Like anyone could hurt this blog - or get Art to change his position. Not that Art’s position isn’t subject to change it’s just not changing on anyone else’s timetable.

Exemplary, of course, under lax standards. He’s about as good of a commissioner as Blagojevich is as Illinois governor

Count Chocula, if you’re going to post here you should have the courage to post under your real name.

“…he has been an exemplary City Commissioner.”?
Well, we simply do not believe your statement Mr. Pedroza.
In addition, Mr. Mill is an architect of the Santa Ana’s clandestine “GentViet” commission project.
Therefore, in a coalition with our Vietnamese friends we will impeach Commissioner Mill in 2009… starting about four (4) hours from now.
Caveat, we have the power.

Is #10 “UsualSuspect” legit?
Is this blogger the official spokesperson for the “Usual Suspects” ?
What is the GentViet commission project?
I understand that due to the estimated $40 million Santa Ana deficit all commissions will be eliminated as an effort to save money on staff presence at the meetings and other associated expenditures associated with commission meetings.
Is the caveat threat then necessary?

Alright, Usual Suspects, very fun.

“Usual Suspect” turned out to be Fiala. He has been banned - again.

Congrats Chris!
Lets hope if you want the position your colleagues will oblige and elect you.
