Janet Nguyen’s $170K gift to Papi Pulido

Here’s a story you won’t likely read at any other Orange County blog.  O.C. Supervisor Janet Nguyen is giving the City of Santa Ana $170,000 dollars so Mayor Miguel Pulido can play on a clay tennis court, over at Cabrillo Park.

If you click on the graphic above, you will see that this crazed idea was inspired by the bastion of planning that is the City of Norco!

Click here to read more about this project.

Is this really a top priority in Santa Ana?  There are tennis courts at Park Santiago that hardly see any use.

We know that Pulido is a big Francophile and he loves to play tennis.  And we all know that France is famed for its clay courts.  So is this going to be Pulido’s personal playground?

I guess Papi owes Janet a big hug!

A red clay tennis court? What about the polo grounds this city so badly needs?

Yet another example of wasteful spending by Janet.

Great find, Art! Everyone knows that if you want quality tennis programs, you go to Anaheim or Newport Beach. For Don Papi Pulido to want money for a clay tennis court—a specialty surface rarely used by novices and much more expensive to upkeep than a regular court—instead of soccer fields shows again how much he’s clueless about the city he lives in and runs.

    Gustavo,

Exactly. What a joke. And what an unholy union between Janet and Papi!

Uh….this isn’t France, Papi Pulido. Click your expensive heeled shoes like Dorothy did in ‘Wizard of Oz’ and go back to France and play tennis there…in fact, stay there while you’re at it and take those other lame clowncil members with you. What a joke….$170k.

Why couldn’t he use the asphalt train to redo the courts? It would have been more cost effective!

For some reason, Papi Pulido has a thing for this park. The recently renovated historic Twist-Basler House has become a playtoy for Papi with modern-looking windows and the most putrid green color – looks like a house straight out of TJ. And has anybody tried to drive down Fruit St lately. You need a 4-wheel drive to make the trip. The local residents are being totally ignored on purpose with any changes there. (The oversized house was shoved down their throats.) Word has it that Papi is going to use all the money he’s saving by cutting the City commissions and paying for a super-pro to teach his kids how to play tennis. (Well, I made that last part up, sorry.)

Maybe Papa Pulido is actually somebody’s ‘papasito’ and Cabrillo is the new place to ‘cruise’ if you know what I mean….
