Is Costa Mesa Councilwoman Wendy Leece’s son Stephen a chip off the old block?
“The son of Mayor Pro-Tem Wendy Leece was arrested early Wednesday after an argument with his girlfriend. Stephen Leece, 28, of Costa Mesa was arrested on suspicion of felony charges of causing corporal injury to a cohabitant,” according to the O.C. Register.
Wait a minute! Isn’t Wendy Leece a hardcore ultra-conservative Talibani Republican? Isn’t she known for those stances? What the heck happened here? Is it just me or did she raise a creepy son?

Sgt. Joyce LaPointe of the Costa Mesa Police Department said the argument began after Leece’s girlfriend returned to their residence in the 100 block of East 16th Street after a night drinking with girlfriends.
Leece, who was upset that she went out, began a verbal argument that became a physical altercation when he flipped over a table in the kitchen, LaPointe said.
He then grabbed the victim, causing bruising to her arm, and when she tried to get away from him, she cut her foot on the broken glass from the table, LaPointe said.
During the struggle, which took place for about 20 minutes, the victim’s 9-year-old son heard the commotion from his bedroom and tried to intervene. Leece pushed him out of the way, LaPointe said.
Nothing says Republican family values like pushing your nine year old out of the way so you can keep whacking his mom!
Sigh. Darn Republicans! If they spent more time raising their own kids instead of telling the rest of us what to do with our private lives we would all be so much better off!
This is a very mean spirited and heartless post, one of the worst things I have read on here. You obviously do not follow Wendy Leece’s votes, for and against certain agenda items, and her comments as to why she is voting in a certain manner. She is a champion of the average Costa Mesa citizen, not at all caught up in the Republican Party and their attempt to take over Costa Mesa council positions so they can stick it to us peons while they smoke their cigars in their million dollar homes on the golf course and wonder how deep their moats should be to protect their goodies. Write about Boss Hog, er, Scott Baugh and his buddies instead. She raised, I believe, five children while being a hard working single mom. So one of them goes overboard in an argument and you write this crap? It’s not like her son is some gangbanger who “was just starting to turn his life around” and then murders someone. Yes, the actions of her son are despicable but tempers sometimes run a little high and things get out of hand. Your article is off the mark.
