Norby’s fundraising is getting poopy results!
The OC Register did a story today about Chris Norby’s attempt to solicit campaign contributions from County employees at their work e-mail addresses here . Apparently this is a big no-no, although lawyers aren’t sure if the law has been broken. Read more.
It seems Norby and his political staff are seeking to undo the protections that are now n law regarding political patronage. At one time in our country’s history it was common for elected officials to give relatives and friends government jobs, and to extract payment from government employees for the privilege of keeping their jobs. To a great extent, civil service and other laws have curtailed such spoils system practices. In this instance, a mistake or caught red-handed? Either way, hope the DA is looking into this one.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t you help get Norby elected?
baxter,
I supported him too – but this time he is running for a paycheck. Norby simply is not qualified to be a Clerk-Recorder.
Of course his consultant is John Lewis, the GOP clown who gave us Mike Carona – a bailiff with ZERO crime fighting experience as our Sheriff. That sure worked out…
Damn Tony, that picture is just gross… unless it’s a hot chocolate sundae swirl or something.
Lam,
My bad! I put up the picture of the poop piggy bank – which fits the story since this all started with a Norby fundraising email.
Art, I dig you, I really do. But if you did not know that Norby was running for a paycheck and company car back then you need to get your antlers tuned. In fact the last time I ever saw Norby outside of a public event he was hanging with the Bushala’s at a USC game. I had a few drinks in me, but I’m quite sure I’m not imagining this.
baxter,
Remember. When Norby first ran for Supervisor he did so against Coad – and she had just voted to pass the Orange County PLA – which banned non-union contractors from bidding on County projects. It was BS.
Coad did herself in. Norby was opposed to PLAs. And he was smart enough to go against the airport too. Whether or not that was the right move for the county is debatable, but it certainly got him a ton of south county cash.
Now Norby is running for a paycheck and nothing more. He ought to get a job like the rest of us…his legacy is going down the toilet.
I can’t disagree with anything you said … but unlike you, or Tony for that matter, I know that a light weight like Norby going down the toilet just means he came full circle.
