Underdog no more – Hugh Nguyen is now our next O.C. Clerk-Recorder

Hugh Nguyen and his family

The next O.C. Clerk-Recorder, Hugh Nguyen, and his family

How quickly the fates change.  One minute Hugh Nguyen is an underdog and now he is the presumed winner in the race to replace O.C. Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly.

What changed?  Well, Nguyen’s only major opponent, termed out Supervisor Chris Norby, pulled out today to run instead for the Assembly seat vacated by the pervy Mike Duvall.  Norby will easily win Duvall’s seat.

And now Nguyen is going to easily win his race too!  His only remaining opponent is termed out Buena Park Councilman Art “Stinky Pete” Brown.  No one takes Brown seriously, except for Daly.  But Daly is going to lose in his race to replace Norby on the Board of Supervisors, to frontrunner Shawn Nelson.

Nguyen will become the ONLY Vietnamese American elected to a non-Supervisorial County office.

Nguyen spent 13 years in the Orange County Clerk-Recorder’s office.  He was promoted to serve as Assistant Orange County Clerk.  Now he will step back into his old office, where his innovative ideas have long been praised by those who deal with the Clerk-Recorder’s office on a regular basis.

Nguyen has a great personality.  He is friendly and very non-political.  He has made it a point not to take sides in the ongoing squabble between Assemblyman Van Tran and Supervisor Janet Nguyen.  Good for him!

I am proud to call Nguyen my friend.  And I will be so proud when he wins and is sworn in.  He will, no doubt, restore pride and service in an office that has lain dormant while managed by Daly, who is nothing more than a politician and not a great one at that.

    Sean H. Mill says:

I spoke to Hugh this afternoon and he was quite upbeat and excited about the potential impact all this will have on his campaign.

He however still realizes that he still has a tough campaign ahead and takes nothing for granted.

He has a fundraiser coming up soon which we will report on here at the OJ.

Working in the title industry and having to deal with the Clerk-Recorders office on a daily basis, should Hugh win, it will be great to have a professional back in charge.

Tom Daly is a politician and has done little during his time in office there. Hugh is a disciple of Gary Granville and it was Granville who turned that office around after all those dismal years with Lee Branch in charge.

    Clerk Recorder Employee says:

We are so excited that Chris Norby is not running for Clerk Recorder. We hope our former boss Hieu Nguyen will win this election. We know he is a great person and he is a great boss.

Now we all pray that Tom Daly runs for 4th District Supervisor so we can get rid of him.

Tom Daly is a loser who doesn’t give a damm about us employees. This guy is a joke and we can’t wait for him to leave. We all hope that he takes his idiot manager/lover RENEE RAMIREZ with him.

Tom Daly is a waste of taxpayer money and he needs to go or quit!
