Independent Santa Ana Latina running against Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez

The GOP is so unpopular in Santa Ana that a Latina candidate who is challenging Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez is running as an independent, although her views appear to be somewhat Republican in nature. Her name is Cecilia “Ceci” Iglesias.

Iglesias has already found out that running for office can expose you to creepy attacks. Blogger Claudio Gallegos ripped Iglesias today in a post over at the Liberal OC blog – and he actually published her home address. I don’t know that Iglesias has qualified as a candidate for Congress, but thanks to Claudio her address is now out there for all to see.

Memo to Claudio – Iglesias has a right to run for Congress. That does not give you the right to publish her home address. That is irresponsible and threatening. If anything happens to Iglesias, her family or her property the S.A.P.D. will be calling you!

When will the people at Fib OC grow up? Claudia Gallegos, Philis Bacerra, Genie Trabuco, Crissy Prevatt need to start acting like grown men and stop acting like a bunch of junior high school girls. We all know Ms. Gallegos home address: The Quill at Mabury and 17th Street, Santa Ana.

    #1,

Claudio has already killed two blogs and now it seems he is well on his way to putting the Lib OC out of their blue misery.

As for your chisme about Antonio, very interesting. I cannot find anything online to corroborate that. But with Newsom out, the field is wide open.

Villaraigosa recently attacked medical pot clinics. That made no sense at the time, but if he is running for Governor after all, then it fits. Democrats always like to posture that they are very anti-crime. Never mind that the medical pot clinics are pretty safe…and really don’t cause many problems.

    #2,

Indeed. Very bad form for Claudio to publish the address of this candidate. I hope her family does not get hurt on account of the Liberal OC’s attack on her!

It’s good to see a (genuine) latina running against the Democrats (and not a white guy who adopted a hispanic surname, i.e., Ken Maddox-Lopez).

Let’s face it – bloc voting has done nothing to improve the lot of black America. In fact, it helped destroy the black family and create a dreadful cycle of illegitimacy and dependency. It will do nothing to help latinos.

Recent immigrants will recall how one party rule failed them in Mexico, with the corrupt PRI worsening the lot of poor Mexicanos. The union-dominated Democrat party is the PRI, all over again.

Most immigrants come to this country not for handouts, but for opportunity. The Democrat party destroys opportunity and offers only handouts so that you come to depend on them – your masters.

    Good luck to Ceci Iglesias!

    right on!!!

That is why everyone should look into a 3rd party

You absolutely hit it right Reps and Dems don’t meet the needs of anyone but themselves.

    Ceci has MY VOTE says:

I met Ceci and she gives back to her community unselfishly and displays qualities of a TRUE public servant. Not to mention, she resides in her community. I will definitely VOTE for her. It’s about time for change. Thanks Ceci for all you do! Good Luck!

    Vern Nelson says:

And Ceci gets the fabled OJ bump! (he says wryly as a Loretta supporter)

No I shouldn’t say that, I hope that fabled bump does materialize for Alfredo and others…

    Just in Time says:

several of us would like to pay for an ad for CECI here on the OJ

-the OJ bump as Vern put it–

however we need a good and special deal covering from now until Nov 2010.

I will pledge my contribution for this ad here on the OJ once Admin. posts an ad here calling for us to chip in for this ad! :)

I worked with Ceci for years. You will not find a better person than her. She cares about her community and gives back. The responsible thing for Gallegos to do would have been to find out info before attacking her. You know, Loretta Sanchez doesn’t even live in her own district. Sure she is registered to vote in her small condo, but she actually lives in the Palos Verdes Estates. It would be a shame for the people of Santa Ana to lose out on such a good person to represent them just because of political parties. You should elect the person…not the party!

I live in the 47th Congressional District and I met Cecilia Iglesias and she was walking door to door in my neighborhood. Cecilia, I enjoyed talking to you; you appeared to be down to earth. You have my vote and will also recommend you to my family and friends.

    Eloisa says:

Cecilia, I have heard a lot about you. You are a remarkable person. Your passion for the community is contageous. Thank you for being a true leader; it starts from the heart. You have helped many families communicate with their deaf children. You are to be commended for your work.

I will vote for you this coming election.

    Arturo says:

I will defenitely vote for you Cecilia. Let me know how I can get involve. We need new representation for our community; someone who will voice out our concerns. I saw your “youtube video” and yes you are correct; since you live in our district, you will represent us well.

    You have my vote!
