Take the Taxpayer Protection Challenge

Taxpayer Protection Pledge

It’s time for California’s major Republican candidates (Carly Fiorina, Chuck DeVore, Meg Whitman, Tom Campbell, Steve Poizner) to take the Taxpayer Protection Challenge.  These candidates talk the talk – claiming they support fiscal responsibility and taxpayer protection.  But, are they willing to walk the walk – take on the public employee unions by supporting the Citizen Power Campaign to stop these unions from using taxpayer money for politics?

These candidates talk the talk about protecting taxpayers.  Yesterday, Senate candidate Carly Fiorina announced her credentials as a fiscal conservative (among other things), in her “White Men Can’t Jump Over Barbara Boxer” interview with American Spectator.  But, she said more.  Fiorina also voiced concern over California’s overpowerful public employee unions.  “There is growing anger in California over the vice grip that unions have over the state,”  she said.  This leaves taxpayer advocates saying to themselves, “You talk the talk.  Now, what are you going to do about it?  Are you willing to show some leadership and walk the walk?”

The Citizen Power Campaign combines grassroots taxpayer organizers, retirees, and political veterans.  The initiative’s official proponents include leaders of California’s Tea Party Patriot movement, Mark Meckler and Dawn Wildman; as well as retired teacher, Larry Sand; Costa Mesa Mayor Allan Mansoor; and Orange County attorney Mark Bucher.  DeVore is running neck-and-neck with Fiorina due, in part, to his endorsement by Sen. Jim DeMint, a Tea Party favorite.  The Citizen Power Campaign’s activist supporters want fiscal responsibility, not higher taxes and reckless spending (centrist values) – and care about actions, not words.

California’s leading Republican candidates must take the Taxpayer Protection Challenge – show their support for fixing California by limiting the power of the California public employee unions who are shortchanging taxpayers by using taxpayer money to fight needed reform.  They can show their support by promoting the Citizen Power Initiative and helping finance the campaign (especially super wealthy candidates Fiorina, Whitman, and Poizner).  This initiative may be the most important reform since Proposition 13.

This is a defining moment for  Carly Fiorina, Chuck DeVore, Meg Whitman, Tom Campbell, and Steve Poizner.  Are you a leader?  Are you willing to help lead the fight against the most powerful special interest in California?  Are you afraid to take on the public employee unions who are plundering the state and the nation?  You talk the talk.  Do you walk the walk?   Take the Taxpayer Protection Challenge – show taxpayers that you stand with us.

Tax payer protection challenge…that’s so ridiculous! How about we have them sign a “promise to make everyone happy pledge.” Its just as ridiculous because who knows what the next four or five years will bring and what decisions one will have to make. Any political official who signs one of those in my opinion is a goofball.
