We’ll list offices and names and ballot measures here, and link to endorsements elsewhere. See the link just below.) This post is essentially your scorecard for who’s in the upcoming vote.
Note that there are no State Supreme Court Justices and local-ish District Appellate judges up for a retention vote this year, so don’t worry about them.
Our overall roster of OJB Endorsements will give you lots of detailed reasoned analysis in pretty much every race — except where we just gave up. If you want a summary of list of endorsements without much explanation of why we made those choices, that’s here — and it will load more quickly, too! We also have more detailed discussions of certain races that warrant it, which you can find through our introductory “index” page here.

What happened to Betty Valencia in Orange.?
Betty has become a big mover and shaker, and is helping several great people get onto Orange Council – most notably Dannett. (Sp?)
The Garden Grove mayor race is already ramping up to be a, uh, weird one. Phat Bui put out a music video where he was the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air:
That isn’t a first… When he first ran for council maybe 6 years ago (it seems like?) he made a music video with a buncha young Asians dancing to a tune called Fat Boy.
Re NOCCCD area 4, Rosales seems to be a union shill. (I’m a member of the same union, but I don’t like to vote for politicians so closely tied to public employee unions.) Alvarez’s campaign doesn’t seem to have a lot of substance, but he is endorsed by a long list of Fullerton-area politicians, an odd mix including such disparate personalities as Joanne Fawley (union-affiliated school board member, who I find impressive) and Barbara Dunsheath (representing the opposite political tendency). The best information I could find about the two candidates was in this interview: https://tinyurl.com/y2fohy58
Hello again, Ben! I don’t at all dislike Rosales, who is endorsed by SQS & Jesus Silva and Jeanette Vazquez — but I’ve been told that this M. Alvarez (as opposed to the Mayor Pro-Tem of Orange) is highly intelligent and competent. (Any of those three are welcome to post an opposing view.) Alvarez’s endorsers include Pam Keller — so there must be some sort of backstory here because I can never recall Sharon and Pam differ on anything before now.
