Will Alfredo Amezcua turn out to be another Miguel Pulido?

I met with Alfredo Amezcua before he announced his campaign for Mayor of Santa Ana. I was really hoping he would be the answer to defeating the incumbent Mayor, Miguel Pulido.
In the next few months, Mayor Miguel Pulido’s allies will tear into Amezcua and leave him destroyed. That is what they did to Pulido’s last [...]

A Few Firebreathing Liberals (fun videos)

ERIC WEINER (last week)

I’m not sure why Weiner once referred dismissively to fellow progressive Alan Grayson as “a few fries short of a Happy Meal.”  I don’t see much difference in their politics;  I suspect Grayson just gives Weiner too much competition for memorable and to-the-point theatrics.  You’ve probably seen this [...]

Lt. Governor candidate Gavin Newsom admits he has no clue what that office entails

LOL! Janice Hahn, the Los Angeles Councilwoman who is running for California Lt. Governor, has fired her first salvo at San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who apparently has no clue what the Lt. Governor does – which isn’t stopping him from running for this office.
And here is a bonus video – an interview with Newsom, [...]

Will bipartisan schmoozer Phil Bacerra run against Councilwoman Michele Martinez?

It’s not easy being a Democrat in red Orange County.  That might explain why some local Democrats have ended up working closely with local Republicans.
Case in point, Santa Ana resident Phil Bacerra, who is a Democrat but is very tight with several Republicans in the O.C., including Supervisor Janet Nguyen, Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle, and [...]

This just in from the Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC).  They have finally hired a new Executive Director, Long Beach Council Member Gerrie Schipske.  What this means for Henry Vandermeir, who filled in capably during the search for a new E.D., is anyone’s guess.

Phu Nguyen rocked the Tet Parade, Mansoor was alone

I learned a lot while walking the Tet Parade route yesterday.  For one thing, Chairman Janet Nguyen proved her colleague, Supervisor John Moorlach, right again when I walked by and took her picture.
“Stop being a jerk,” said Chairman Janet.  I was just taking pictures.  I think she didn’t like the fact that I was there to [...]
