“Worst Majority” in history to close its doors to public.

History.com is reporting, as on the rest of the blogosphere, that Queen Nancy “we don’t need no bipartisan cooperation” Pelosi is reversing traditional rules of minority rights, ethics reforms, chairperson term limits and making Congress live by the laws of the land.

These long standing traditions include public committee meetings, truth in budgeting, proxy votes, House audits (which rose from the Post Office Scandals) and minority rights to offer amendments to legislation.

This tyrannical posture from the most ineffective and unpopular Congress in memory means President Elect will have a very short honeymoon and very little bipartisan support.

If Democrats do not write their leaders in outrage over these violations of public trust and political transparency, then they speak volumes on their lack of concern for the rights of men, women, businessmen and blue collars, who care about how their government performs under scrutiny. “Say nothing and you too can experience CAR WINDSHIELD!”

Bob Barr reverses himself on the Defense of Marriage Act

Posted by: Art Pedroza  :  Category: GLBT rights, barack obama, democrats, gay marriage

When I heard that last year’s Libertarian Presidential candidate, Bob Barr, had reversed himself on the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) I was stunned.  He wrote this abomination when he was in Congress.  However, his reversal has nothing to do with a change in his views regarding gay marriage.  Rather, Barr believes now that DOMA is an indefensible violation of state’s rights.  He is right about that - but I wish he would let go of his lingering Republicanism and embrace gay marriage too.

Barr wrote “I can sympathize with the incoming commander in chief. And, after long and careful consideration, I have come to agree with him that the law should be repealed,” in an editorial in the L.A. Times today. Read more…

Senator Al Franken

Posted by: Sean H. Mill  :  Category: Senate, democrats

Minnesota’s state Canvassing Board is set to certify the final results of that state’s United States Senate election today.  There has been an ongoing recount of the ballots cast and as of Saturday Democrat Al Franken holds a 225 vote lead over incumbent Republican Senator Norm Coleman. Franken will be certified as the winner and will almost certainly be the next United States Senator from Minnesota.

Coleman went to the Minnesota Supreme Court trying to get hundreds of rejected ballots from heavily Republican areas counted however the court rejected his bid with their ruling.  Franken is not out of the woods yet however.  Coleman and his legal team have promised a long drawn out legal battle should Franken be declared the winner.

How ironic that the party that always decries court intervention is always the first to run and file lawsuits when things don’t go their way.  Anyone remember Bush v. Gore? Read more…

Is Chuck Devore the BEST the Republicans can come up with to face Senator Boxer?

Posted by: Art Pedroza  :  Category: Republican Party, california, democrats

Seriously?  Chuck Devore for the U.S. Senate?  This is the BEST the California Republicans can do against Senator Barbara Boxer?  How many times did Devore lose when he ran for the Irvine City Council back in the day?  Does ANYONE take him seriously?  Good grief!

DeVore supported Prop. 8.  Enough said.  Hopefully the Libertarians will be fielding a candidate, otherwise I will be voting for Boxer.  How will YOU be voting? Read more…

The Republican Morphing Machine!

Posted by: Ron & Anna Winship  :  Category: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Corruption, Election 2008, corporate welfare, democrats, economy, gun rights

Republicans used to be good.  Of course they were.  They “Re-invented America with Newt Gingrich!”  They were always the hard core Conservative voice that defended our right to keep and bear arms.  They always fought against “activist judges”.  They always were defending small business from invasive regulation.  They always defended the right of the unborn.  They were always guarding our right to speak and believe in whatever religion we wanted.  Ronald Reagan set the tone for three generations.  He said it just right and made us all proud.

But Government today has basicially become a Socialist self-sustaining machine.  FDR, LBJ, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton knew that!  Two famous Democrat quotes:  “Hell, sell it to the government….they’ll buy anything!” and “It doesn’t make a Tinkers Damn what the people think!”  Well, the Republicans got shaky right after Clinton.  We needed a clean cut image and Bush 43 and Laura have done a great job…keep up appearances!  In a policy sense, we have joined the Democratic landslide.  Arnold thought he could come in the Governor’s office and make a difference.  He didn’t sell it properly and lost all four of his most important Initiatives!  Arnold was upset and simply found out that even the Republicans weren’t on his team either!  That was a shock.  So, he just plain sold out and forget about it.  You can hardly blame him! “Blago” Sticks It To Dems…Burris Will Be Seated

Posted by: Sean H. Mill  :  Category: Corruption, Govenor Blagojevich, democrats, ethics

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich sent a message yesterday by announcing that he was appointing former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris to the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President-elect Obama.  That message was “F**K YOU!!!  I am still the Governor and I am still in charge.”  The brazen move by Blagojevich has really stuck it to the Democratic leadership in Illinois and D.C.

By choosing to appoint Burris in defiance of Democratic leaders, including President-elect Obama, Blagojevich has turned what should be a time of celebration for Democrats into a nightmare.  Rather than riding the wave of change and hope that Barack Obama is bringing to the White House, the Democrats will now be knee deep in controversy and the GOP has to be loving it.

So instead of talking about the policies the Obama Administration wants to put forth they will be talking about Blagojevich and Burris.  So instead of getting to work on getting our country back on the right path after eight horrific years of failed Bush policies they will likely be in the middle of a legal fight to keep Burris out of the Senate seat.  However it is my belief that it will all be for naught and Burris will be seated.
