Santa Ana stabbings out of control

Posted by: Thomas Anthony Gordon  :  Category: Fresh Juice

In yet another violent week in Santa Ana, there have been at least 5 stabbings that we know of.

According to the OC Register, 3 men were brutally stabbed early Monday.

Yesterday, two more kids were stabbed in broad daylight on Main Street according to the OC Register.

What the hell is going on?

True leadership would be front and center demanding another Operation Restore the Peace.

But in Santa Ana, there is no leadership.

Stop the violence, increase the leadership.

Vote for Change on November 4.

Greedy O.C. Fair Board Pigs stopped by the FPPC?

Posted by: Art Pedroza  :  Category: "The OC", Fresh Juice, OC GOP, costa mesa, oc fair

Success!  I just got an update from Jim Poterfield, of Stop Government Greed, has apparently succeeded in stopping the greedy Orange County Fair Board from taking any more “free” concert tickets!  Well done Jim!

Here is Porterfield’s update:

I am sure most of you heard by now that on August 28th, the OC Fair Board reduced their concert ticket allotment to six each. They also seriously reduced the number of admissions and pins and other things they have taken in the past, except for the dinners.

The reason I am writing to all of you is that the FPPC’s (Fair Political Practices Commission) PROPOSED revision of this regulation that allowed the OC Fair Board to take these tickets was recently published. So, it looks like the OC Fair Board will be stripped of all of their personal tickets as they will have to justify in
the future “what governmental or public benefit” was derived by giving away each ticket. It’s not yet a hurrah, but darn close! The FPPC will make their final ruling next Thursday. I hope by sending you all this email I have not jinxed it in anyway. Read more…

City managers who blog?

Posted by: Art Pedroza  :  Category: Fresh Juice, california

The Santa Ana City Council and City Manager (Dave Ream) hate this blog so much that last year they actually convened a special meeting to try to figure out how to get rid of the bloggers who had been appointed to several City Commissions.  In that meeting they drafted their infamous “Code of Ethics” with the hope that this non-enforceable guideline would at last give them the opportunity to get rid of the bloggers.

Today the Orange Juice bloggers have either been tossed from their City Commissions, or have resigned for various reasons.  But the Orange Juice has been reengineered by Sarah Spinosa - and now we are a real juggernaut in Orange County politics.  In fact we are now averaging over 1,200 visits to our site every day and almost 3,000 page views daily.  We are also currently the top ranked political blog in Orange County, according to Alexa.com.  The folks at Santa Ana’s City Hall utterly failed to stop us.

And now I have been invited to speak at the California League of Cities Annual Conference on September 25.  I will be participating in a panel presentation entitled “Entering the Blogosphere: Using New Media to Talk to Your Community.”  Read more…

Choice of Palin stuns Dr. Laura

Posted by: Red Vixen  :  Category: Fresh Juice, Morals, Republican Party, Vice Presidential, Women, john mccain, sarah palin

Radio advice personality, Dr. Laura, recently weighed in on Senator John McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin for  Vice President.    Here is an excerpt of Dr. Laura’s comments:

I’m stunned - couldn’t the Republican Party find one competent female with adult children to run for Vice President with McCain?   I realize his advisors probably didn’t want a “mature” woman, as the Democrats keep harping on his age.  But really, what kind of role model is a woman whose fifth child was recently born with a serious issue, Down Syndrome, and then goes back to the job of Governor within days of the birth?

Dr. Laura still plans to vote for McCain. Read more…

CA Attorney General Jerry Brown sides with Deputies in pension dispute

Posted by: Art Pedroza  :  Category: "The OC", Fresh Juice, board of supervisors, pension spikes

I received the press release below from Wayne Quint, the President of the AOCDS (Association of O.C. Deputy Sheriffs).  Apparently the O.C. Board of Supervisors attempt to “roll back” the pension deal that their predecessors cut with the Deputy Sheriffs is being opposed by Attorney General Jerry Brown.

“Mario Mainero, the chief of staff to Moorlach, who led the county to file the suit, criticized Brown’s decision to get involved as political and said his initial comments indicate that he doesn’t understand the basis of the lawsuit.  “It’s pretty clear here that Atty. Gen. Brown, who apparently wants to be governor again, is going to try to gain the support of people who can raise a lot of money for him,” Mainero said,” according to the L.A. Times.

Levi Johnston-Palin’s last MySpace Post

Posted by: El Luchador  :  Category: Fresh Juice, Presidential race, Republican Party, Vice Presidential, john mccain

Late tonight I managed to “obtain” Bristol Palin’s new fiancé’s last MySpace entry. Apparently his MySpace account has been shut down now and it is no longer available.  However, as a gift to all of our faithful readers I have decided to post it here:

What a ride! Figuratively speaking, oh heck literally too. Here I am in Minnesota at the RNC, whoever would have thought? I don’t even know if I’m a Republican yet, well I guess I am now by default or should I say by not so immaculate conception.

The last few months of my life have been interesting to say the least. I went from being a guy who hooked up with the Governor’s daughter to now being engaged to the Republican Vice-Presidential Candidate’s daughter. I wasn’t planning on getting married and having a kid. Well I was, but I was planning on doing it in that order not the other way around. And not now!  Maybe not ever. But, like that nice lady who works for John McCain told me to say, “it’s God’s plan.” Or something like that… Read more…

A Republican Mockery….Oh yeah!!

Posted by: Ron & Anna Winship  :  Category: Fresh Juice

The soccer mom came to the party…..packing heat!  She assailed Obama and became the assigned “attack dog” for the campaign.  The good Governor of Alaska came out looking for Grizzly bears, Polar Bears and Oil Rigs!  OK, were we amazed?  Well, actually the first 15 minutes sounded like she was running for Student Body President of the Senior Class at a very fine Junior College in Sitka!  The last time we heard that type of squealing diatribe it was at a Girls Athletic Association meeting…talking about baby clothes!

It was actually quite a night of hard hitting spit and charging the grey battlements of the bastille.  Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and even our hero Rudy Guiliani all came out swinging….to pump up the volume for the good Governor Palin.  They unloaded taking no prisoners.  They did their level best to demean Obama in every way possible.  The good news is that the same old tired rhetoric was only taken seriously by the uncredentialed delegates!  Sadly, our opinion of all of the Republican Candidates for President, in this cycle,  due to this performance has greatly diminished and blemished our respect for all of them. I know, it’s not Jesse Jackson wanting to cut off Obama’s nuts, but it’s right up there with that….

It’s Over. We’ve lost.

September 2nd, 2008. The 2008 Election ended this morning as a vast cadre of liberals, progressives, Democrats and like minded journalists lifted the white flag and surrendered.
We surrendered something a whole lot more valuable than our vote. We surrendered our principles. We surrendered our core values.
We surrendered all hope. We surrendered our shared dreams that our daughters would inherit a better world, a world of promise, equality, justice, fairness and honor.
