Is it possible to create Immigration Reform?

Posted by: Ron & Anna Winship  :  Category: 2009, 2010, 2010 elections, Econ 101, amnesty, economy, economy 2009, immigration, law enforcement, mexico

President Obama has listed Immigration Reform right up there with Economic Recovery and Reform, Health Care Reform, Education Reform, Support for Afghanistan and Pakistan…..Halting Unemployment and finding average Americans new jobs…..while the Auto, Manufacturing and even the Service Sector is static.  The Foreclosure news is filled with conjecture and questions regarding whether an economic Recovery is presently under way or we will have to wait to 2011.

The President however, continues to cheer lead and pursue unabated his very emphatic energy to keep doing things….no matter what.  His tough intrepid character has also shown through by seeking out bi-partisan support for his Supreme Court nominee Judge Sotomayor…which now appears like a virtual “Slam dunk” if the momentum continues!  The President also has no qualms about pushing his many appointees out into the the public eye.  Starting with the Vice President and his 2nd Lady…..the energy seems impressive.  Even his own 1st Lady never seems at rest.  This is an Administration that is demostrating unbelieveable motivation and energy.  Like the Energizer Bunny the Obama Administration keeps “going and going and going”! How would you like to get PAID to watch your own kids?

Posted by: Jill Puich  :  Category: Children, Public assistance, Women, california budget, family, financial bailout, immigration, los angeles, over-population, politics, socialists

Los Angeles County supervisors are scrambling for ways to save money. They suggested putting unemployed parents to work caring for their own children as part of the proposed changes to CalWorks and other state government aid programs.

This could save nearly $270 million. They want to target the cuts to the people who are the most expensive. What do you think? Do you think that the County or State should be paying parents to babysit their own kids? Don’t you worry that if the state pays fellow single mothers to stay home, they will become dependent on welfare? Many parents would join this new wave of having kids and getting paid to watch their own kid bandwagon. Let’s let our readers speak.

Schwarzenegger nails it - the problem is public employees, not immigrants

Posted by: Art Pedroza  :  Category: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Fresh Juice, california budget, immigration, pension spikes

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is finally coming to his senses.  On Friday he “disputed claims that illegal immigrants caused California’s $24.3 billion deficit, while he praised their economic contributions and said he is “happy” they have access to services,” according to the Sacramento Bee.

And Arnold nailed the real problem - which is not immigrants but rather overpaid public employees, “The Republican governor, answering wide-ranging questions from The Bee’s editorial board and its readers, also vented about roadblocks to his authority posed by political foes and warned that government can’t sustain the current level of “unbelievable benefits” for public-sector workers.” Read more…

Angry Republicans intent on driving off a cliff

Bill Maher wrote in a recent L.A. Times op-ed column that “If conservatives don’t want to be seen as bitter people who cling to their guns and religion and anti-immigrant sentiments, they should stop being bitter and clinging to their guns, religion and anti-immigrant sentiments.”

You expect that from Maher, but there’s more to the story, courtesy of Politico.com, “Sen. John McCain’s daughter and his campaign manager who last week demanded that their fellow Republicans embrace same-sex marriage. Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman – the most devoted modernizer among the party’s 2012 hopefuls – won approving words from New York Times columnist Frank Rich for his call to downplay divisive values issues. The party’s top elected leaders in Congress, meanwhile, spooked by being attacked as the “party of no,” were recasting themselves as a constructive, respectful opposition to a popular president.”

However there is a disconnect between party leaders and the party base, “Rank-and-file Republicans remain, by all indications, staunchly conservative, and they appear to have no desire to moderate their views. GOP activists and operatives say they hear intense anger at the White House and at the party’s own leaders on familiar issues – taxes, homosexuality, and immigration. Within the party, conservative groups have grown stronger absent the emergence of any organized moderate faction.” Read more…

“A Portrait of Unauthorized (”illegal”) Immigrants in the United States” Pew Research

Posted by: Larry Gilbert  :  Category: Children, barack obama, california, california budget, immigration

Today the Pew Hispanic Center, a project of Pew Research Center, just released a 52 page report entitled “A Portrait of Unauthorized Immigrants in the United States.”

Before providing some of their data I need to state my opposition to their constant use of the word “unauthorized” immigrants which we know to be “illegal” immigrants.

I will not count the number of references to the use of the word “unauthorized” which we first see in their title. “Unauthorized” (immigrants) is also the first word of their Executive Summary.

What do they mean by that “spin” as they try to desensitize us to accepting the 11,400,000 to 12,400,000 currently in this country “illegally” based on their data as found in Table 1? As we all expected, the state of California is listed first with the largest number of  illegals at 2,700,000 which is virtually double the total of Texas which has the next highest population. As president Obama intends to promote his concept of a solution for resolving this debate let’s not get cute with definitions. Read more…

Is this the return of Prop. 187?

Posted by: Art Pedroza  :  Category: Fresh Juice, Republican Party, california, california budget, immigration, latinos, mexico

California’s Republican Party is almost dead.  So what do these guys decide to do to restore the GOP?  Some of them are bringing back Prop. 187, via a new state initiative:

“A conservative group is hoping to bring the issue of illegal immigration back to the front burner of California politics with a ballot measure that would create a new caste of birth certificates for children of the undocumented,” according to the Sacramento Bee.

Here are a few excerpts explaining this new “Son of Prop. 187″ initiative: Read more…

Amnesty No Bueno!

Posted by: Terry Crowley  :  Category: BHO's, Fresh Juice, Terry Crowley, amnesty, immigration

In the first of what will be many sacrificial lambs of this doomed administration, the Obama White House today spelled out their immigration policy. To be brief…

Everyone who wants to be legal has to go to a government office, admit they’re illegal, pay what will be a large or even huge fine by the time it gets through Congress, and wait for the government bureaucracy to get back to them. In essence, he doesn’t intend for anything to change, and the focus instead will go towards penalizing those who hire illegals and border enforcement. Because if illegals wanted to do all that I just mentioned, they could do it today. And they don’t.

Democratic legislative aides said that opening a full-fledged debate this year on immigration, particularly with health care as a looming priority, could weigh down the president’s domestic agenda.

Great. A huge fine, admit they're lawbreakers, and they go to the end of the line.

Have Santa Ana’s Usual Suspects targeted Sean Mill?

Have Santa Ana’s Usual Suspects targeted Sean Mill for termination?

My co-blogger Sean Mill posted a video this week featuring the old cereal character Count Chocula.  For those of you not in the know, there is a Democrat toublemaker in town who goes by that nickname.  So some of our readers opted to use that post to pile on the fellow in question, who has angered a lot of folks over the years while supporting Republicans, such as Supervisor Janet Nguyen, and bad Democrats, like Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido.

The O.C. version of Count Chocula is allied with Santa Ana’s Usual Suspects - a motley crew of angry Santa Ana citizens that includes a pile of bitter Republicans, most of whom are very much anti Latino.  This is the bunch that got busted by the ACLU for putting up illegal traffic barriers in the French Park neighborhood in order to try to keep the brown folks out.

For whatever reason, Pulido and his cabal still take calls from these folks.  I cannot imagine that L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa would take calls from people who hate on his own, but Pulido does.  And he regularly appoints these screamers to city commissions! Read more…

Will President Obama pull a Reagan and pass another Amnesty?

Should President Obama pass another amnesty for immigrants, like President Reagan did?

Will President Barack Obama follow in the footsteps of President Ronald Reagan and pass another amnesty for immigrants?  I hope so.  I believe this would be a HUGE economic stimulus as it would bring millions of people out of the shadows and allow them to open bank accounts and buy cars and houses.

I believe that Obama and the Democrats in Congress will indeed give us another amnesty.  But it won’t be a free ride.  The San Francisco Chronicle published what Obama had to say at the Orange County townhall meeting this week regarding immigration: Read more…

The Civil Rights Issue of Our Time

What should Obama's priority on immigration be?

President Obama’s White House has said it plans to address immigration reform in the coming weeks and months. A welcome turn! First and foremost, the Presidents duty is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and, by extension, every American citizen. The Constitution of the United States calls for ”a uniform Rule of Naturalization”. Everyone must abide by the rule, and everyone must follow the same rule. To not follow the Constitution would be a violation of his duties as President and a violation of his sacrament to protect the American citizen. He should: Read more…
