Quang Pham’s congressional campaign website is now up!

Quang X. Pham appears to be serious about running for Congress  - his campaign website is up and running.  Pham is challenging Democratic incumbent Loretta Sanchez, who has been in the news a lot of late, but not for good reasons.  He is also taking on corrupt GOP Assemblyman Van Tran, who is termed out from the state legislature and running for Congress for the first time.

I am still not sure if Pham is running as a Republican or as an independent.  But he is a good guy and at this point I rather support him than Sanchez.  But if he runs as a Republican I cannot vote for him as that party won’t allow independents and third party members to vote in their primaries.

Sanchez’ latest gaffe is one for the ages.  According to the O.C. Weekly, she told a young descendant of President Richard Nixon that she regretted voting for Tricky Dick.  That was of course a horrible insult to the young man, who was visiting her office in D.C.  But beyond that, the fact is Sanchez wasn’t old enough to vote back when Nixon was running for President.  Sanchez appears to be either a liar or a ding dong - or both.

Below is Pham’s welcoming message from his website: Read more…

Talibani Family Action PAC endorses Allan Mansoor for 68th Assembly District

The Talibani Republican group known as the “Family Action PAC” has announced its endorsement of Costa Mesa Councilman Allan Mansoor for the 68th Assembly District.

Attention DPOC.  As bad as Assemblyman Van Tran is I assure you Mansoor will be worse.  Tran is corrupt but he is also conniving.  Mansoor will just be a tool for the right wing nuts in his party.  You guys better convince Costa Mesa Councilwoman Katrina Foley to run for this seat - pronto.  She is your ONLY hope to win this seat, period.

My sources report that perennial Dem congressional candidate Steve Young is eyeballing this seat.  HE WILL LOSE.  Don’t be stupid DPOC!  Foley is the only one that can beat Mansoor.  Ignore this warning at your own peril

Here is the Family Action PAC’s press release.  Don’t read this on a full stomach.   You might puke!: Read more…

Lorri Galloway pops Tom Daly’s blue balloon as she announces for the 4th Supervisorial District

Who should replace Supervisor Chris Norby in the Fourth District?

The race to replace termed out Supervisor Chris Norby just got interesting.  Anaheim Councilwoman Lorri Galloway, who is a Democrat, has announced that she is running, according to the Red Klownty blog and the Friends for Fullerton’s Future blog.

This is very bad news for O.C. Clerk-recorder Tom Daly, who like Galloway is also a Democrat.  Particularly since Jerbal, at Red Klownty, is also reporting that La Habra Councilwoman Rose Espinoza, who is also a Democrat, is thinking about running for Clerk-Recorder instead of running for the 4th Supervisorial District.

Daly is already being opposed by Anaheim Councilman Harry Sidhu.  Now Galloway will further dilute Daly’s base in Anaheim, where he was once the Mayor.  Read more…

Republican Orange County Public Administrator John S. Williams busted for wasting public money

Posted by: Art Pedroza  :  Category: "The OC", Corruption, Fresh Juice, OC GOP, Republican Party

Is it just me or does O.C. Public Administrator John S. Williams look like a car salesman?

“The Orange County grand jury issued a scathing report Tuesday criticizing the public administrator/public guardian’s office for “egregious” mismanagement, including questionable promotions that cost hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars,” according to the L.A. Times.

So who is the Orange County Public Administrator/Public Guardian? It is a hack conservative Republican named John S. Williams. This guy is deeply embedded in OC GOP politics. If you Google him you will find he has endorsed just about every OC GOP candidate from the right over the years.

According to Smart Voter, he has been endorsed himself in the past by the California Republican Assembly; the Conservative Women’s Leadership Association of South Orange County; the Young Republicans of Orange County; the Seniors and Veterans for Education (SAVE); and the Saddleback Republican Assembly.

Here are a few more excerpts from the L.A. Times: Read more…

Are Local Dems Giving “Chosen One” A Pass After Endorsement Of Uber Conservative Reep?

Who should be our next O.C. Clerk-Recorder?

Talk to this small but vocal faction of local Democrats about the future of the party in central and north Orange County and one name above all others brings a sparkle to their eye and a smile to their face. Despite the fact the demographic makeup of the party in this geographical area is largely Latino the local elected that garners their excitement doesn’t have a Hispanic surname like Tinajero, Alvarez, Benevides or Martinez as one might expect. The “chosen one” for these folks is Anaheim Union High School District Trustee Jordan Brandman.

Many in this group make up the “Janny” faction of the DPOC, thus called this for their covert support for Latino bashing Supervisor Janet Nguyen. It is not shocking that they would pin the party’s hope for the future in Central/North OC on the shoulders of an Anglo politician. History shows us that many within the DPOC have a track record of opposing Latino politicians in the local area. Loretta Sanchez and Lou Correa did not gain any party support until the won their seat. To this day, much, if not all of Loretta and Lou’s success is in spite of the local party.

While we cannot, nor should we, hold the actions of these folks against Mr. Brandman, we should question his decision to endorse uberconservative Republican Chris Norby for Orange County Clerk/Recorder. From what I have seen Mr. Brandman is a bright and articulate young man, not to mention he is a fellow Anteater alumnist. I would think that Mr. Norby’s politics are the polar opposite of Brandman’s, at least I would hope they are. So why endorse him? Read more…

Why does the DPOC think that Beth Krom can beat John Campbell?

Will Irvine Council Woman Beth Krom defeat Congressman John Campbell next year?

Politics is all about hope - and fear.  But all too often the truth lies in math.  Take for example the current DPOC darling, Irvine Councilwoman Beth Krom.  Some folks think she actually has a chance of defeating well-heeled former car dealer Rep. John Campbell.  But the numbers don’t bear this out.

Last year, perennial Democratic candidate Steve Young tried mightily to take out Campbell.  In the end, Young got just over 40% of the vote - with Barack Obama atop the Democratic ticket, according to Smart Voter.  Campbell came in at over 55% of the vote.  Campbell got 171,431 votes to Young’s 125,351 votes.  That is to say that Young lost by over 45,000 votes!

Sure, Krom has had some success at the local level.  But this is the big leagues now.  And the registration numbers don’t favor Krom - not by a long shot.  There are 195,299 Republicans in the 48th Congressional District.  There are only 128,341 Democrats in that district.  Young got almost all their votes and still lost.  Read more…

Chris Norby has launched his Clerk-Recorder campaign website

Who should be our next O.C. Clerk-Recorder?

O.C. Supervisor Chris Norby has quietly launched his campaign website for the O.C. Clerk-Recorder’s office.  It is not bad.  And he already has a ton of endorsements, including a few Democrats, such as Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido and Anaheim Union High School District Trustee Jordan Brandman.  Now we know who in Orange County falls within John Lewis’ sphere of influence…Lewis is listed as the Chair of Norby’s campaign.

Norby makes the case that his political experience will make him a better clerk-recorder than anyone else.  He goes out of his way, in the video above, to mention Tom Daly, the current Clerk-Recorder.

Norby has always been easy to get a hold of and that spirit continues on his website, where he lists his cell number and personal email address. Read more…

Is Jerbal being paid to shill for Rep. John Campbell on his Red Klownty blog?

Posted by: Art Pedroza  :  Category: "The OC", Beth Krom, Fresh Juice, LibOC, Republican Party, irvine, john campbell, jubal, red county, steven greenhut

Zing!  O.C. Register blogger Steven Greenhut noted that Matt “Jerbal” Cunningham has been doing a lot of shilling for Rep. John Campbell over at the Red Klownty blog - ever since Campbell hired Jerbal to help on his campaign.  I wonder if Jerbal is being paid by the word to pimp for Campbell on his blog?

Here is an excerpt from Greenhut’s Orange Punch blog post:

Hey, I like Rep. John Campbell as much as the next guy and think that he’s one of the better Republicans in Congress (and certainly think he would be better than his Democratic opponent Beth Krom), but I had to chuckle at this headline on Red County: “John Campbell Compares Statism Vs. Entrepreneurism As Solutions To Auto Woes.” Writer Matt Cunningham goes on to praise an “excellent” op-ed that Campbell wrote in Investor’s Business Daily and reprint the whole thing. It is a good op-ed, but Cunningham  — as he discloses at the end of the blog post — is a consultant to the Campbell campaign. On Monday, Cunningham printed another praiseworthy piece about Campbell titled, “John Campbell Speaks Out In Support Of Iranian Resistance To Tyranny” and it includes a video clip of Campbell’s floor speech. And on June 16 Cunningham rebutted another Red County piece that accused Campbell of flip-flopping. Read more…

Irvine Ponzi scheme financier gave thousands of dollars to Republican candidates

Posted by: Art Pedroza  :  Category: "The OC", Corruption, Fresh Juice, OC GOP, Republican Party, irvine

“Irvine financier Danny Pang, accused by the government of operating a Ponzi scheme, received at least $83 million in inflated fees, salary and loans from his investment firm before it was seized by federal regulators in April, according to unsealed court documents,” according to the L.A. Times.

But that’s not all.  Pang also gave some of his Ponzi money to Republican candidates!  He gave $5,000 to Congressman Ken Calvert (that figures) and he gave $4,300 to Rudy Giuliani’s presidential campaign.  Click here to see the campaign reports.

Pang also gave $2700 to the Republican National Committe, according to the Asian American Action Fund blog.

Pang was a real piece of work. The L.A. Times revealed that: Read more…

Santa Ana used affordable housing grants to relocate families - now a developer will reap the profits!

Santa Ana “City officials have begun meeting with private developers to talk about building as many as 200 homes on a swath of mostly empty land the city owns near downtown.  They envision an entirely new neighborhood built on dozens of lots the city has bought and cleared over the past decade. The city paid nearly $18.5 million for those lots, records show, but will likely give at least some of them to the developers to keep the homes built there affordable,” according to the O.C. Register.

This action borders on the illegal.  Those lots were acquired using federal grants for affordable housing.  The City of Santa Ana is essentially relocating people they don’t want in the area to the west side of the city, and using these properties as they please.

To rub salt in the wound, they are going to give away some of these lots, to developers, allegedly to build affordable housing.  Do YOU truste the Pulido bunch to get any of this right? Read more…

“Irvine Councilwoman Beth Krom will continue her bid for U.S. Rep. John Campbell’s 48th District seat, after the sudden death of her 22-year-old son, her campaign manager has announced. “Beth is committed to the ongoing success of this campaign,” Krom’s campaign manager, Melahat Rafiei, said in a recent e-mail,” according to the Daily Pilot.

In related news, new details have emerged regarding the death of Krom’s son, Noah, earlier this month, in an article in the UCSB Student Newspaper, the Daily Nexus. Here are a few key excerpts:

“So far our investigation has told us that he had just crossed over from climbing over a fence from 6653 Del Playa over to 6663 Del Playa where at some point he fell off the cliff outside of the fence that borders the different properties,” Olmstead said.

Krom was the sixth person that has fallen down the cliffs this year, but he is the only fatality. Olmstead said that all of the previous five incidents were alcohol-related. The toxicology results for Krom will be available within the next few days. Read more…
