Our Friend Allan Bartlett passed along our post about Tom Daly’s $10,000,000 real estate disaster for the edification of the good government advocates who read the “Red County” blog. Or maybe he did it to annoy the Republican supporters of crazy spendthrift Democrat Tom Daly. Well, no that’s not quite right. Headache would imply that County Clerk Tom Daly cares he blew $2,100,000 of public money on a real estate venture and that it could cost another $7,600,000 to fix the problem; or that he is in any way worried about it. And why should he be? When there’s no [...] As we reported last week, here, County Clerk/Recorder Tom Daly paid almost $50,00 in 2008 and 2009 to a campaign contributor to “study” the feasibility of developing an Orange County athletic “hall of fame.” We opined upon the irresponsible expenditure and questioned why the County Clerk would even embark on such a lame idea in [...] Yesterday we reported on the dubious contract between Tom Daly’s County Clerk office and a Republican PR man and campaign agent, Brett Barbre, that put a cool $48,000 in Barbre’s pocket, and produced no evident accomplishment. We also learned that Mr. B was not only a political supporter of Daly, but a big contributor, too [...] The partisan hacks at the Red County and Liberal OC blogs have united again (something that has become increasingly common) in attacking Hugh Nguyen, who is running for Orange County Clerk-Recorder, against incumbent Tom Daly, a career politician who happens to be a Democrat. In a statement that was released to the media this afternoon former Chief Deputy Recorder Hugh Nguyen reaffirmed his commitment to the election for Orange County Clerk Recorder. This announcement confirms my post from last week in which I said that this was the case and it further points to the shoddy reporting of the Daly [...] Orange County Clerk-Recorder candidate Hugh Nguyen told me in a telephone conversation just moments ago that he plans to stay in the race despite the announcement today by incumbent Tom Daly that he is dropping out of the OC Supervisors race and seeking re-election to his current office of Clerk-Recorder. Nguyen’s assurance to me should put [...] A little while ago we received the following e-mail from Art Brown, the avuncular councilmember from Buena Park: It should surprise no one that Daly has a long history of being anti-Latino Career Democratic politician Tom Daly is having another fundraiser on Feb. 25, but what is more interesting is the absolute lack of Latinos on his campaign committee. Over in the purpling swamp of what used to be the “Red County” blog, Matthew J. Cunningham just topped himself, hypocrisy-wise. |
