There was quite an uproar when folks found out that Santa Ana city planners had removed Mayor Miguel Pulido’s business, Ace Muffler, from the proposed Renaissance Plan area. I drove by Ace Muffler today. Now I can see why it was removed from the RSP. I will let the pictures do the talking.
For one thing, check out the weeds that pass for landscaping (see the picture above). The decrepit cars parked alongside the street are likewise a nice touch. Below you can see that the weedy landscaping is quite consistent:
But wait – there’s more. Check out the nice pavement below, in the driveway leading into Ace Muffler. Looks like Pulido has invested in the authentic “Santa Ana” surface design:
Ace Muffler has something for everyone. Below you can see they even have a graffiti exhibit:
And of course Pulido has a special parking space reserved for the owner:
Are car repairs really done at this place of business?
It’s a dump, to be sure. He should reconsider and include his joint in the rennaisance plan. He might be able to squeeze some free redevelopment money to make some site improvements. You would think that the Mayor of Santa Ana would show a little more pride in his place of business. Everyone in the world knows that shack belongs to him! It should be one of the nicest, cleanest looking businesses in town. I wonder how much time he actually spends there during the week? Or does he spend his days plotting and scheming in his 8th floor office suite at City Hall?
Come on you really think he has ever changed a set of brakes or welded a muffler and exhaust tip. Napoleonito has never broke a sweat at that place.
Pudrido’s muffler shop is a dump just as he is unkempt. The Mayor looks like he sleeps in his clothes, rolls out of bed and goes straight to the office. There is no pride in appearance either for the Mayor or his muffler shop.
Maybe Pudrido should invest in a ladder so that he can at least reach the bathroom mirror and comb his hair in the morning before he walks out the door.
You know, Napoleon would have never walked out of his home looking sloppy.
I work one block away from Santa Ana J. C. and these “pics” look “just like home”.
It’s a muffler shop for gosh sakes, not a hospital! Why don’t you compare it to other 30 year old muffler shops in Santa Ana or near by cities. This is an unfair shot at our Mayor.

What?? It is a business on 1st Street that is the entrance to a shopping center! Yuck!
Just another example of Pulido playing by a differant set of rules!
He whom struts around like he is so much better than everyone else..a beautiful example of what he really thinks about our City.
#6. Don’t be so stupid. The Mayor is supposed to lead by example. Not caring about the appearance of his own business is a strong indication that he doesn’t care about the City of Santa Ana. His clothes is as worn and dirty as his place of business.
Why can’t he rehab the business? At least the exterior…
