Apparently Nativo Lopez is leading some sort of march today in Downtown Santa Ana. You might want to stay out of that area today. Here is the official media plan from the Santa Ana Police Department (see last year’s SAPD welcoming committee above, courtesy of Red County):
May 1, 2008 Media Plan
Public Information Office
Plaza of the Flags
Commencing at 1500 hours, Santa Ana Police Department PIO Corporal Gonzalez and assistant PIO Sergeant Carrillo (both Spanish speakers) will be assigned to cover the Immigrant Rights March/Rally, organized by Hermandad Mexicana and the Institute for Mexicans Abroad in Orange County. Participants, estimated by organizers to approach 6,000, will rally in the Plaza of the Flags where a pre-built stage will accommodate speakers. Street closures for this area are expected to commence at approximately 1000 hours.
Participants are expected to begin to assemble at approximately 1500 hours at the Plaza of the Flags, commence their march between 1500 and 1600 hours. The march will then continue along the designated route, (North on Ross Street, West on Civic Center, North on Flower, East on 17th, South on Broadway, West on Civic Center, and South on Ross into the Plaza of the Flags) which was agreed upon by the event organizers.
where are the anti ILLEGAL immigrant marchers meeting . i would like to join them and yell no SE PUEDE . BECAUSE YOU ARE ILLEGAL ..
Sounds like a parade.
It sounds more like a waste of police manpower to me. Pull the cops out, let the media fend for themselves and when it is all over lets see what is left. If these people want to be law abiding American citizens let them prove it without wasting taxpayers money. If the cops have to be there let them focus on the anti illegal groups wanting to start trouble. As we learned in the 60’s nothing makes a point faster than a peaceful law abiding march.

Your crystal ball is shriveled.
The protestors are protected by the U.S. Constitution. That’s what makes this country great. And how do you know that all the protestors are not legal residents?
Isn’t this the day we leave flowers on door steps? May poll anyone???
I stopped by and watched the show until my grandkids said they had to go.
Very few people were there compared to last year.
I saw Collins filming from his sagway.
It is after 4pm now so I will go outside and watch them walk by on Broadway
post 4 if the protesters are here legally than i dont have a problem . its the illegals THAT COME HERE AND DEMAND RIGHTS AND FREE ENTITLEMENTS ..those have no rights you are not suppose to be here . these people say we want to be part of the american way yet they dont enbrace the u. s. culture they send all their money back to mexico and they refuse to learn english because everything is catered to them . dial 1 for spanish . forms in spanish . even at the rally from last year we didnt understand the police commands in ENGLISH ”’ . holding up signs in spanish {good way to get your message across}
I got stuck in the traffic jam that ensued on Broadway. With all the Mexican flags, I could swear it was a rally for Mexico!
It sounds like the Police Department has a very detailed plan and that makes me feel more comfortable. I’ll be at the Plaza of the Flags on May 15 at a rally to keep them from cutting more education funding. We’re almost last out of the 50 states in per pupil funding so the rally is really important. Its good to know that the police have plans in place for crowd control especially because I’ll be one of the crowd.
