San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom (pictured above), a Democrat who wants to be our next Governor, may have just killed the concept of “Sanctuary Cities” for immigrants. “Authorities couldn’t fully explain Monday how an alleged gang member and suspected illegal immigrant was able walk out of jail in San Francisco – three months before police say he shot and killed a father and two sons,” according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Newsom now has blood on his hands. But the party will likely go on for him – with the exception of his gubernatorial campaign which is now D.O.A.
The killer, a man named Edwin Ramos, a native of El Salvador, “was repeatedly shielded as a juvenile from deportation by city officials who failed to notify federal authorities of separate assault and attempted robberies he committed when he was 17.”
Those robberies were felonies. They included “a gang motivated assault of a Muni bus passenger followed by the attempted street robbery of a pregnant woman.”
Ramos was eventually “jailed on gun and gang allegations in San Francisco,” and “local prosecutors didn’t file charges.”
This episode likely tanks any hopes of expanding the concept of Sanctuary Cities to any other cities in California. And don’t be surprised if there are calls to reverse such laws in many communities.
It is too bad because if done right the Sanctuary City concept is a good thing. San Francisco city officials obviously did not manage their idea of a Sanctuary City correctly – and now the entire concept will be damned by the voters.
well what else is new . art supporting illegas once again .. sanctuary city is a good thing .. tell that to the family of this victim . tell that to the family of jamil shaw the l.a. kid who got shot down by a ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT . these illegals have no business being in this country . and if the law was enforced wich art is against .. these folks might be alive today .. god forbid if this happens to any one of your friends or family . its a sad story . but evetone is so scared to do something about . ENFORCE THE LAW ..

I guess it’s OK with Gavin to grant a safe haven for gang bangers in SF so long as his family doesn’t become a victim. The fact that Edwin Ramos was only a minor (at 17) proves what? How old do you have to be to learn how to pull the trigger of a weapon and kill someone?
Perhaps we should promote a boycott of any trade event/business conference at Moscone Center to protect their 100,000 annual visitors. (Source) Moscone Admin. Hit them in their pocket book and Gavin might get the message. As the top elected official in that city government Mr. Newsome should know that his top responsibility is to provide “public safety.” For this failure he get’s an “F.” I would almost charge him as an accomplice for failing to notify ICE.
Ramos killed the father and his two sons because they temporarily blocked him with their car as they passed eachother in an allyway. Ramos has also been linked to the incredibly violent Mara Salvatrucha gang (MS-13). I get sanctuary status for humanitarian reasons, but for criminals? No Way! This is why Jamil Shaw’s dad is advocating for changing Special Order 40 in L.A. He wants police to check the immigration status of known gang members. These gangs bangers have been identified already and are in a database put together by LAPD. Makes perfect sense to check their immigration status and go after them for being in the country illegally.
This in no way affects illegals who are obeying the law. These people are working, the illegal criminals are wreaking havoc on our communities and killing innocent people.
All that’s left of the murdered family in San Francisco is the mother. Her only kids and husband…gone. Their lives were definitely worth more than San Francisco’s government sticking it to the Federal government and declaring themselves a sanctuary city. Jamil Shaw’s life was worth more.

How is this Newsoms’ fault?
Is he the DA who failed to file charges?
Is he the sheriff who let (what I would expect to be a ‘no bail’ suspect) out of jail?
Did he meddle in the affairs of the jail?
This is a terrible situation, but it’s pretty far from Gavin’s doorstep.

larry way to point out the facts to post 7 . this newsom like you pointed out will not follow u .s. law . he will try and avoid helping i .c.e in any way he can . why dont all the illegals go to s.f. and free us of the mess down here in so cal ..

Maybe we can send all shivering huddled masses up to SF and all the aging hippies can fire up a spleve and everyone can sit around and groove on the rubble of a city overrun by members of MS-13, La Eme, Sureno, and 18th Streeters. Keep ’em all, let Gavin sort ’em out! 😀
