As the Orange Juice team provides “fair and balanced” political coverage I offer the following, compliments of Sean Hannity and the Drudge Report.
As Democrats on this blog beat up on Republican Mark Foley I await your comments on this news breaking allegation charge by Patricia Allen of sexual harassment by his replacement Democrat Tim Mahoney.
Congressman’s $121,000 Payoff to Alleged Mistress
Tim Mahoney Elected to Remove ‘Ethical Cloud’ of His Disgraced Predecessor, Mark Foley

West Palm Beach Congressman Tim Mahoney (D-FL), whose predecessor resigned in the wake of a sex scandal, agreed to a $121,000 payment to a former mistress who worked on his staff and was threatening to sue him, according to current and former members of his staff who have been briefed on the settlement, which involved Mahoney and his campaign committee.
The affair between Congressman Tim Mahoney and Patricia Allen began, according to current and former staffers, in 2006 when Mahoney was campaigning for Congress against Foley, promising “a world that is safer, more moral.”

Mahoney, who is married, also promised the woman, Patricia Allen, a $50,000 a year job for two years at the agency that handles his campaign advertising, the staffers said.
A Mahoney spokesperson would not answer questions about the alleged affair or the settlement, but said Allen resigned of her own accord and “has not received any special payment from campaign funds.”
Senior Democratic leaders in the House of Representatives, including Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL), the chair of the Democratic Caucus, have been working with Mahoney to keep the matter from hurting his re-election campaign, the Mahoney staffers said.

Is that Timmy Mahoney?
Oh, dear Lord, poor Mrs Mahoney! God knows she’s a saint but that Timmy! He’s a scamp.
Never let it be said he didn’t pay Union scale and leave a sizeable tip for good measure. He’s always been good that way.
Not at all like poor Mrs. Foley’s son.
Gee Larry, never let it be said that ANYTHING gets by you, except of course the obvious. The reason Mark Foley’s escapades were SOOOO entertaining was his hypocrisy, he was known as a crusader against child porn only to be found e-mailing teenage pages. Tim Mahoney is just another sleezeball, from which neither party is immune. Nancy Pelosi called for an ethics investigation yesterday. But while we are on the subject of ETHICS VIOLATIONS and HYPOCRISY, what’s your take on Miss Alaska?
whatttt!!!!!!!!!!
I haven’t been avoiding you. I am having technical difficulties adding comments to posts.
Please. Stay on the topic of the post. I did not mention Sarah Palin anywhere in my story.
Juice readers. Unlike other blogs I do not give passes to Republicans when they screw up. That goes for my own city council to president Bush and my writing on this blog confirms that “fair and balanced” coverage.
That being said I am disappointed with all my liberal friends, including one or more who write on this blog, that this story is swept under the rug.
News page 7 of todays OC Register reads in part as follows. Headline: “Lawmaker admits affair, not crime.” The story quotes an ABC news report that “Mahoney, 52, had an affair with an aide and then paid her $121,000 to keep her quiet and avoid a sexual harassment lawsuit.”
I guess this is irrelevant.
Fellow Juice bloggers, be consistent the next time a Republican faces similar charges or I will be forced to call you hypocrites.
Hey Larry, just WHERE are all those posts on Bush’s screw ups? Again, Nancy Pelosi HAS called for an investigation of Mahoney, no one is sweeping it under the rug. Now, I await your POST over Sarah “gibberish” Palin’s ETHICS VIOLATIONS!
