Special Announcement from Cathy Schlicht, councilmember elect, city of Mission Viejo
As my focus is on “emergency preparedness” I wish to notify residents of tomorrow’s Great Southern California (earthquake) Shake Out drill being conducted at 10 a.m.
To get more information on how to prepare for an emergency simply go to www.shakeout.org where you will have access to information that we should all read and keep posted for our family, neighbors and co-worker safety. Cathy Schlicht
At 10 a.m. on November 13, join millions of people throughout Southern California in the ShakeOut Drill, the largest earthquake preparedness activity in U.S. history!
To register simply go to:

i.e. Protect yourself during earthquake shaking- drop, cover, and hold on.
” What should you do during and after earthquakes?
During earthquakes, drop to the floor, take cover under a sturdy desk or table, and hold on to it firmly. Be prepared to move with it until the shaking stops.
The area near the exterior walls of a building is the most dangerous place to be. Windows, facades and architectural details are often the first parts of the building to collapse. To stay away from this danger zone, stay inside if you are inside and outside if you are outside.”
Interesting—how come the City of Mission Viejo has not issued an announcement ???
The city has its own don’t ask don’t tell policy.
Herb. In my discussions with Cathy regarding emergency preparedness she indicated that she will urge staff to provide information on our city web site.
Cal State Fullerton participated in the ShakeOut Drill today. I thought it went really well. Though, I found it strange that it began a little early around 9:30 a.m., not 10 a.m.
