“The Illinois House voted overwhelmingly Friday to impeach Gov. Rod Blagojevich, an unprecedented action that sets up a state Senate trial on whether he should be thrown out for allegedly trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat and other charges,” according to the Sacramento Bee.
Blogejevich’ attempt to sell President Elect Barack Obama’s Senate seat was just the tip of the iceberg. Other charges included the fact “that Blagojevich expanded a health care program without proper authority, that he circumvented hiring laws to give jobs to political allies, that he spent millions of dollars on foreign flu vaccine that he knew was not needed and could not be brought into the country.”
To what extent will Blagojevich’ impeachment continue to haunt his appointment of Roland Burris to replace Obama in the U.S. Senate? And will this mess continue to trip up the Obama administration and the ability of Senate Leader Harry Reid to do his job?
I think that the parallels between Blago and a misbehaving/disruptive student are incredibly similar. Both take forever to get rid of, no matter how flagrant the violations are, and both are incredibly disruptive to people who have little time to waste on their BS when there is so much important work to do and so little time to do it in.
Will it trip up the Obama Administration? No, but its the sort of thing that the media loves when they should be focusing on who’s helping solve the economic problems and who is part of the economic problems. Several members of congress have always been part of the problem and getting them to understand the problem and its solution is like teaching a pig to sing: it’s a waste of time and it annoys the pig.
Look at how effective these boobs have been on addressing global warming, illegal immigration, out of control banks and the exporting of American jobs to third world countries. Do we really think the Dana Warbacher’s of Washington D.C. will suddenly become lawmakers and give up their obstructionist ways?
Reminds me of a Christmas Carol I heard this year:

Hospital CEO Pamela Davis Wore FBI Wire for 8 Months
When Pamela Davis agreed to wear an FBI wire in late 2003, she became a key part of the investigation that culminated in the arrest of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich for allegedly trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama’s Senate seat.
The extent of Davis’ role as a whistle-blower and FBI informant exceeded her expectations.
“I had my suspicions that it would go all the way up to the level of the governor,” Davis told ABC News in her first television interview. “Though, I did not have personal knowledge that he was involved.”
Davis’ connection to the investigation began in 2003 when she was president and CEO of Edward Hospital in Naperville, Ill. While working to win approval from the state health planning board to expand her facilities, Davis says she received warnings that she would only gain approval if she used a specific, politically connected contractor and investment firm.
…
When Blagojevich was arrested by Fitzgerald for allegedly trying to sell the seat, Davis felt “vindicated for all of those meetings” in which her hospital plans were rejected and competitors “were not so silently chuckling.”
