“Former Orange County Sheriff Michael S. Carona was found guilty today of one felony count of witness tampering and cleared of five other charges in a public corruption case that ended the career of a lawman once christened “America’s sheriff” and hailed as a charismatic leader with a bright political future,” according to the L.A. Times.
How the heck did Carona get off on the rest of those charges? I can only imagine that the jury did not believe the prosecution’s star witness, former Carona Assistant Sheriff Don Haidl.
Oh well. Adios Carona – and good riddance. I ihave a feeling that he will pull a “Cape Fear” and buff up in prison. Then when he gets out, George Jaramillo better run for the hills!
I wonder when the OC GOP leaders will apologize for backing this guy? And where is the apology from Red-faced County blog editor Matt/Jubal Cunningham? Time to say sorry guys!
I hope that the cost of his prison term is deducted from the huge pension this felon gets, and also any cost soon to be Mrs felon gets too.
Guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty……….period.!!
The same thing will happen if Santa Ana Police Chief Walters gets elected Sheriff.
#3 I don’t think there is anyway you can compare Corona and Walters. Sure Walters shouldn’t become Sheriff but it isn’t because he’s another Corona. A crook like Corona getting to be Sheriff is really a once-in-a-generation thing. Most cops are great, a few cops are bad, the rare cop (hell, the rare person much less a person screened for this kind of problem) is psychopathic like Corona, Haidl, and Jaramillo seem to be. We need to look at what broke down in the screening process and allowed them to achieve such elevated positions of trust.
