New liberal blog debuts in Orange County

Well, the Liberal OC finally has some liberal competition, as the OC Progressive blog is now online.  It is headed by our former blogger Joe Shaw, who has been a fixture in Huntington Beach politics for years.  Last year he was involved in the Debbie Cook campaign for Congress.

Now Shaw has recruited a few anonymous bloggers with the mission of effecting “change on the state level and federal level by paying more attention to recruiting and electing progressive candidates to local offices and commissions. Strong leadership at these levels creates the farm team that will be our future assemblymembers and congressmembers.”

So what kind of local issues will OC Progressive be discussing?  So far they have put up posts about global warming, failed toll roads, and an OCTA contract that OC GOP Chairman Scott Baugh just picked up.  That last post is pretty funny.  The OCTA is paying Baugh $5,000 a month, for God only knows what.  The kicker is that he gave $1,000 last year to nutcase Rosie Avila, who ran against Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez!  Good luck getting anything from Congresswoman Sanchez!

I think there is plenty of room for more political blogs in the OC.  I hope that this new blog will do what the Liberal OC consistently fails to do – hold bad Democrats accountable.  The hacks at the Liberal OC are essentially cheerleaders for their party – that gets old quick.

Here is a story that this new blog should take a look at – why is the Liberal OC ignoring the DPOC’s Truman Dinner?  I wrote about it, but they didn’t.  And they deleted the comments a friend of mine tried to post asking them why they didn’t write about the dinner.

Could it be that the Liberal OC is covering up the fact that the last Truman Awards Dinner, with John Edwards as their keynote speaker, brought in over $250,000, while this year’s dinner netted only $80,000?

But I digress.  Good luck to Joe and his merry progressives!  One bit of advice – add Sitemeter to your site.  Don’t be like Red-faced County and hide your readership data from your readers!
