Santa Ana is picking up right where it left off in 2008, as a 24-year-old man was “stabbed during a New Year’s fight that police believe may be gang-related, authorities said,” according to the O.C. Register.
The fellow was stabbed outside the Villa del Sol apartments, which are located in the 800 block of South Fairview St., at about 12:30 a.m. Two men approached him and asked him what gang he was in, and then they fought him, eventually stabbing him.
It’s a New Year and already Santa Ana has chalked up yet another violent crime. It looks like 2009 is going to be quite a bloody year in Orange County’s “downtown.” And of course the City of Santa Ana just imposed a hiring freeze and our police department is understaffed…
Even a de-escalation of violence from guns to knives would be welcomed.
Sadly…
SANTA ANA – A 60-year-old man leaving New Year’s Day Mass was assaulted by a man who was hiding in his van, police said.
The incident unfolded at 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 541 E. Central Ave., said Santa Ana police Cmdr. Tammy Franks.
