The reason given for trying to recall San Jose Councilwoman Madison Nguyen is that she angered her constituents when she refused to allow a proposed Vietnamese business district to be named “Little Saigon.” But there is more to the story.
Orange County Supervisor Janet Nguyen has been deeply involved in fanning the flames against Nguyen, from the start. I don’t know why that is – except that Nguyen is supported by Assemblyman Van Tran. Janet appears to be striking at Madison in order to get back at her former ally, Tran.
Janet has admitted to me in the past that she has flown to San Jose on more than one occasion in order to participate in protests against Madison. Bad form!
And there might be even more to this story. Madison is a Democrat. Janet is an uber-Republican. It might well be that Janet’s GOP handlers want to take out Madison before she ends up in the state legislature.
However, Madison is picking up a lot of support even as her enemies try to recall her. Former San Jose Mayor Janet Gray Hayes and the San Jose Giants minor league team have announced their opposition to the recall effort against Madison Nguyen, according to an online source.
Is it right for Janet, as an ostensibly non-partisan elected official, to be involved with the recall effort against Madison, when they operate in entirely different parts of the state. What do you think?
Protest chicks are HOT (and easy).
If their elected officials (Jared Huffman and others in Northern California) can pull every string possible to kill a road project in Orange County (241 completion), then what’s wrong with our electeds trying to take theirs out?
At least Janet has visted San Jose. Huffman couldn’t find San Clemente on a map.
Madison Ngyuen is corrupted. She repeatedly lied and insulted her constituents on television.
It’s the duty of all of us who believe in integrity and accountability–regardless of party line or geographical boundary to recall.
Go Janet..Go!
