Dr. George Tiller was gunned down in church today by a religious terrorist
Nothing says “I love Jesus” like murdering a doctor and church usher, in front of his family, in church. That is what happened today to ” Dr. George Tiller, one of the nation’s few providers of late-term abortions despite decades of protests and attacks,” in Wichita, Kansas, according to the Sacramento Bee.
“The Associated Press says the man detained in the Kansas City area is 51-year-old Scott Roeder of Merriam, Kansas,” according to an online report. I am sure he must be a Talibani Republican!
Some feel that Operation Rescue had a lot to do with this.
Here is what Operation Rescue published online before this tragic murder:
Pray in May to Stop Abortion, Wichita, KS, May 17-20, 2007
You are invited to join Operation Rescue on May 17-20 in Wichita, Kansas, the “Nation’s Abortion Capital,” to pray for an end to George R. Tiller’s late-term abortion business and for all pre-born babies everywhere to once again come under the protection of law.
Tiller was charged with 30 criminal counts related to the commission of illegal late-term abortions only to have them dismissed by pro-abortion politicians on dubious jurisdictional grounds.

May is a beautiful time in Kansas and a great time to let the nation know that we will not stop until this gross injustice is rectified.
This will be a 77-hour round the clock prayer vigil.
If you cannot come to Wichita, we ask that you commit this matter to prayer during May 17-20 wherever God has you.
Let’s keep the pressure on George Tiller and the authorities until they are willing to bring him to justice!

Sure enough, Roeder posted a message on Operation Rescue’s website:

Bleass everyone for attending and praying in May to bring justice to Tiller and the closing of his death camp.
Sometime soon, would it be feasible to organize as many people as possible to attend Tillers church (inside, not just outside) to have much more of a presence and possibly ask questions of the Pastor, Deacons, Elders and members while there? Doesn’t seem like it would hurt anything but bring more attention to Tiller.
I am sure that Operation Rescue will deny any involvement in this murder, but check out what the Huffington Post had to say about this:
The escalation of anti-abortion rhetoric plays a direct role in instigating violence. When anti-abortion groups ratchet up the rhetoric, they know exactly what they’re doing and the results it will have. Even if they maintain deniability, as Operation Rescue recently did saying, in effect, we wanted Tiller gone, but didn’t want him murdered, they have inflamed the rhetoric. And suddenly people Like Dr. Tiller’s murderer become inspired. On this issue, history is instructive.
Art, thanks for posting this. You are scooping the news on this one right now.
Here is President Obama’s reaction and statement:
Obama said he was ‘shocked and outraged’ by Tiller’s murder. ‘However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence,’ the president said in a statement.
————————
US Attorney General Eric Holder said that federal law enforcement officials were coordinating with local police. He directed US Marshals to ‘offer protection to other appropriate people and facilities around the nation.’

The date on this post from Roeder is nearly two years old. Has this guy been stalking Dr. Tiller all this time. Here have a look:

It seems as though what is happening in Kansas could be compared to the “lawlessness” which is spoken of in the Bible. Tiller is the concentration camp “Mengele” of our day and needs to be stopped before he and those who protect him bring judgement upon our nation.
Holder issued the following statement:
The murder of Doctor George Tiller is an abhorrent act of violence, and his family is in our thoughts and prayers at this tragic moment. Federal law enforcement is coordinating with local law enforcement officials in Kansas on the investigation of this crime, and I have directed the United States Marshals Service to offer protection to other appropriate people and facilities around the nation. The Department of Justice will work to bring the perpetrator of this crime to justice. As a precautionary measure, we will also take appropriate steps to help prevent any related acts of violence from occurring.
And I see that CNN is carrying the Tiller murder story now.
Apparently O’Reilly has been targeting Dr. Tiller and inciting his viewers’ hostility and rage against the clinic and doctor for quite some time.
There are also initial reports that blog sites and message boards run by Operation Rescue are being scrubbed of comments regarding Dr. Tiller.
I just tried to get to Operation Rescue’s web site and it is down. Thanks to Google, though, I could get the cached pages. I’ve been following the abortion issue since the first doctor was killed in Florida. As a man I don’t have a dog in this race, but I strongly believe that this is an issue between a woman and her doctor.
As a 61 year old atheist, I was long ago tired of the fundamentalist religious thugs trying to control my life. There has to be a way to end the religious tyranny in America.
Any thinking American who watches the news can see that the right wing-nuts are used and controlled by religious organizations like Operation Rescue. This isn’t the first time and I doubt it will be the last.
There is one fact that is inescapable, the anti-abortion people are not being killed and terrorized; but then, I guess if you’re doing God’s work, you can kill whoever you want.
Operation Rescue has no place in a free society.
Sure it does Jack Flash, just like you do. How about all those babies killed by the fine Doc?? I bet you don’t think they have a place in “Your” free society.
If the killer is found to be part of a group, say, Operation Rescue, do you think that the group would be classified as a terrorist organization for promoting and carrying out violence?
Bill O’Reilly appears accessory in the Tiller murder:
O’Reilly began his jihad against Tiller back in 2005 and, according to Salon, Tiller’s been mentioned on 28 separate occasions on his show. In addition to dubbing him “Tiller the Baby-Killer,” O’Reilly has referred to Tiller’s clinic as a “death mill” and called his work “Nazi stuff” for which he has “blood on his hands.”
On November 3, 2006, O’Reilly had women’s rights activist Amy Richards as a guest on his show to discuss Dr. Tiller. Over the course of the interview, O’Reilly repeated the claim that he had “inside information” and “incontrovertible evidence” that Tiller had been “executing babies about to be born” because the mothers were suffering from depression, which led to rampant specualtion that someone had provided O’Reilly with Tiller’s patient records.

Accessory according to criminal law:
(a) Whoever aids, abets, counsels, commands, induces or procures the commission of an offense, is punishable as a principal.
(b) Whoever willfully causes an act to be done which if directly performed by him or another would be an offense, is punishable as a principal.

I guess we now know, why Homeland Security wanted to monitor right-wing extremist groups. This is domestic terrorism.
Mixing guns, religion and a dollop of Fox News has proven to be a toxic formula.
If someone ate a condor (vulture) egg when they were hungry – y’all would be outraged.
And yet, what did the “good doc” do with his “medical degree” for a “living?” …
Interesting priorities …
getagrip, spoken like someone who is truly “pro-life”………. NOT.
FYI; there are only 321 California Condors (one just died 5/13/09 near Pinnacles, from lead poisoning), every one is precious, so yeah, I’d be REAL PISSED if you ate one.
The womb is a room, not a tomb and speaks to the fact that all life is precious, and that murder is murder.
Ah, the negative side of religion came through yesterday with flying colors. I can’t stand Bible thumpers thinking they are better than everybody. No man on this earth knows exactly what the afterlife holds, especially those who say they believe the Bible literary (which is impossible since it is so contradictory). You guys should also remember, “Thou shall not judge” which is what many tend to forget. Just let people live there lives and get out of there business. Wonder how many skeletons are in your closet?
I hope the anti-abortion movement loses some steam over this. I think this is one big item that is keeping moderates like myself for voting Republican.
Domestic terrorism is right. Making sure there are as few new people as possible.
It seems to me the Left isnt learning its lessons. To continue activities that incite such behavior… they should moderate themselves. Then people wouldnt get so upset.
It certainly doesnt say I LOVE JESUS, to continue killing citizens with the Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
Course, not many leftists care about those rights these days. Today their main “right” is the right to be equal, no matter the cost.
There’s a new article on Salon.com entitled “Where Will Women Go Now” by Kate Harding that describes the service that Dr. Tiller ACTUALLY performed.Here’s an excerpt;
Susan Hill, President of the National Women’s Health Foundation, who knew Dr. Tiller for over two decades and referred girls and women to his clinic, said in a phone interview, “We always sent the really tragic cases to Tiller.” Those included women diagnosed with cancer who needed abortions to qualify for chemotherapy, women who learned late in their pregnancies that their wanted babies had fatal illnesses, and rape victims so young they didn’t realize they were pregnant for months. “We sent him 11-year olds, 12-year olds who were way too far along for anybody [else] to see,” said Hill. ” Eleven-year-olds don’t tell anybody. Sometimes they don’t even know they’ve had a period.”
Um what “citizens” are you talking about. Seems to many people are wrapped up in worrying about an undeveloped fetus and not actual conscious adults who may have personal issues like anonster quoted above. Don’t judge everyone by your standards! It maybe hard to believe, but not everyone agrees with your interpretation.
Even if one considers that abortion is murder, in the book that I have read it does not say for man to be the judge and to carry out the judgement. We should leave that to God where it belongs and the good book tells us to do just that.
Peaceful protest, prayer, letter writing voting, there are many ways to express one self short of taking anothers life.
Anonster: This is why the Dept. of Homeland Security
wanted to monitor Right-wing extremist groups.
“In the 10 years since the April 19, 1995, bombing in Oklahoma City, in fact, the radical right has produced some 60 terrorist plots. These have included plans to bomb or burn government buildings, banks, refineries, utilities, clinics, synagogues, mosques, memorials and bridges; to assassinate police officers, judges, politicians, civil rights figures and others; to rob banks, armored cars and other criminals; and to amass illegal machine guns, missiles, explosives, and biological and chemical weapons. What follows is a list of key right-wing plots of the last 10 years.”

#19,
Women were given the right to terminate their pregnancy. It is law.
I believe the voters decided through legislation.
If you disagree with the law you pursue a change through legislative means. You do not do it by murder.
If you yell fire in a building and incite panic resulting in deaths , you will get prosecuted for the deaths.
Inciting hatred towards a individual, group or race that results in deaths should have the same consequences.
I
Please the left, explain to me why you think it is resonable human behaviour to end a childs life by putting an ice pick in the back of its head??
Without any type of sedation??
Mr Tiller was not a Doctor,(the oath of a Doctor is “do no harm”) but a murderer for hire.
Killer’s live a dangerous life and in most cases die at the hands of Killer’s
I hope he get’s to stand before all the children who’s lives he ended for cash!!
What do i think of abortion “If your stupid enough to have unprotected sex, then most likely your stupid enough to exterminate your own child”
We cant help the stupid!!
