FBI says Santa Ana is still #1 – in violent crime in the O.C.

The FBI just released their latest crime statistics and sure enough, Santa Ana is still number one in violent crime in Orange County – by a wide margin.

“Santa Ana, the county’s most populous city, saw a decrease of 11 percent in violent crime, although the number of murders, forcible rapes and robberies increased,” according to the O.C. Register.

Meanwhile, Irvine registered the lowest number of violent crimes per capita in the country for a city with a population of more than 100,000, prompting city officials to declare it for the fifth consecutive year, “America’s Safest City.”

So what should we call Santa Ana?  Orange County’s most dangerous city?

Don’t forget that Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido told us last year while campaigning that Santa Ana was the “safest city in Orange County.”  I don’t think so Miguel!
