Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is finally coming to his senses. On Friday he “disputed claims that illegal immigrants caused California’s $24.3 billion deficit, while he praised their economic contributions and said he is “happy” they have access to services,” according to the Sacramento Bee.
And Arnold nailed the real problem – which is not immigrants but rather overpaid public employees, “The Republican governor, answering wide-ranging questions from The Bee’s editorial board and its readers, also vented about roadblocks to his authority posed by political foes and warned that government can’t sustain the current level of “unbelievable benefits” for public-sector workers.”
There you go. The fact is, immigrants work damn hard doing the dirtiest jobs. What they need is another amnesty so they can open bank accounts and start buying stuff, as well as paying taxes.
But those public employee pensions are a real problem. They may yet bankrupt our state…not to mention our cities and counties.
its not immigrants ITS ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. big difference between the the 2 . the public employee unions too . now the ILLEGALS are some of the problem they are not the main thing . the public employee unions are going to b/k this state . when the private secter of the state had cutbacks and major lay offs they had none . also the party that rules this state the dems are at fault pushing for all those props to get more money from us . we are at fault too for voting for those things when we have no money .
It is both.
Ok that’s it we are not to agree again Anonymous!
Why is it both?
Illegal Alien’s are draining the system, especialy here in orange county with medical,calworks,wic,non-profits writing grants to get money off the Healthy families commission, over 100 of them!
The Coalition of community clinic’s and Choc clinic’s making a nice little pennie, thanks to caloptima.
CaliforniaKids, getting money of Caloptima 2005,2006 500,000 to encourage employers to hire illegals pay them dirt wages and get insurance through funding from Caloptima, healthy families commission ect.. O yeah and the employers portion is a charitable deduction.
Supervisor’s (again all Republican’s)growing government (ie.Public union workers) at a vast pace. So they can serve the underserved and the vunerable.
The rich getting ricer( ie the supervisors and kim cripe CFO CHOC, ect…), public workers getting Fat benifits and the illegal Aliens getting served up entitlements like candy!!
Any one say RICCO!!
Force retirement to the leeches that are at 100% retirement. They are eligible to draw 100% of their salaries yet they just won’t go home. Some have so much vacation time accrued that they are rarely at work-simply taking up space and not allowing others to grow or be promoted, much less allow for new jobs for the general population. Arnold is on to them.
What about all the phantom employees- ??????
Now that’s a bigger problem.

MQ said: “Any one say RICCO!!”
You are correct MQ – it is a racket. And legislators and elected officials are co-conspirators in the racket.
It’s RICO. Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1961-1968.
Schwarzenegger is wrong. The problem isn’t public employees. And it’s not illegal immigrants. All everyone wants to do it point a finger and place all the blame on one single group – it makes it easy to identify the villain and avoid personal responsibility. All everyone wants is a simple, one line answer that solves everything. Sorry folks, there isn’t a simple solution. However, there are some simple answers about how we got here:
First, Prop 13. It’s been flawed since the day it was born. Unfortunately, because the legislature never wanted to make the tough choices, the citizens of California never had to face the pain of Prop 13 in little doses, now we have to swallow the entire thing all at once. And, of course, since the real issue were never confronted, those that pray at the Altar of Prop 13 will never admit that it is flawed, they will continue to sing it’s praises and blame everything else.
Second, legislation by proposition. Intended to make the will of the people known, it’s now almost the exclusive domain of well-funded special interests.
Third, denial. California’s WANT the best but they don’t want to pay for it. They want world-class education – but the don’t want to pay for it. They want their kids in 20:1 classrooms, but don’t want to pay for it. They want world-class highways, but they don’t want to pay for it. They want people to make a decent wage, but they don’t want to pay for it. They want to take care of the poor, the sick, the old, but they don’t want to pay for it. Basically, we’ve come to believe that we as Californian’s can have it all and never have to pay for it.
Finally, we are ALL to blame. So we need to all figure out the solutions. And there is NOT simple solution. The solutions are going to be painful. There will be suffering, social unrest, and it’s going to cost us dearly – in money, in jobs, in security, in everything. But, as usual, I’m afraid, none of us is willing to pay the price. We will still believe that we can have it all and never have to pay for it.
Sorry your right i put one extra C in for Con artist’s.
02.centsworth, My God how much do you think we should be paying, our entire wage???
It is a down right lie sir/Ms. if you think the tax payer is not paying enough! One of the highest taxed states in the nation!
Get this 3BILLION!!!!! just to 480 school’s in orange county in a grant called QEIA.
Some of the best schools in the world have 40-1, its not the quanity of students, its the quality of the education!
It is a lie, a down right lie that we dont pay enough.
Sorry 2cworth but i believe you are either making alot of money of the taxpayer or your a hermit! No offense.
Also your right the people need to start defending themselves aganist all this corruption, by not being afraid to speak up!
The day that the voters(even though it was ridiculously low, bad voters!)said no, was a step to the people taking back the state from the idiot’s and the corrupt!
Correction: 480 schools in the state of California
#7 said this in reference to costing the tax payers and paying.
“and it’s going to cost us dearly – in money, in jobs, in security, in everything. But, as usual, I’m afraid, none of us is willing to pay the price. We will still believe that we can have it all and never have to pay for it”.
The paying was not meant as money only.
#7, this is hard for some to grasp because as you said “blaming one or two is much simpler and convenient”. I believe it is mostly for self interest reasons.
Two reasons for state going under: Socislist welfare programs to grow Government, and Greedy Union’s and Union worker’s.
Lets not make it more complicated than it is!
This is really bugging me. ‘s is to make a noun possessive (or a contraction with “is”). If you want to make plural nouns, omit the apostrophe. What is more bothersome is that one of them making this error is an educator!
And for future reference
its = possessive
it’s = it is
Art, you are a master! You have managed to bait those who have strong feelings on immigration, race and public employees all in one post. This should be good for a couple of dozen, or more, responses.
#13,
You are most astute! 🙂
after the unions and public employees are screaming for no cuts our stupid gov states that the illegals cost us aboute 5 billion in services . and now he supports them what a clown turn coat arnold . if you get rid of freebies to illegas you can save some of these jobs .
