Doesn’t Ken Calvert look like a prototypical Republican Congressman?
Beth Krom is not the only Democratic hopeful trying to unseat an incumbent GOP Congressman. “Newly released campaign finance reports show a flurry of fundraising activity in the 44th and 45th congressional districts, where incumbent Reps. Ken Calvert and Mary Bono Mack face challenges from Corona-Norco school board member Bill Hedrick and Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet,” according to the Riverside Press Enterprise.
Hedrick almost pulled off the upset last year against Calvert. This time Calvert is ready. His most recent campaign finance report indicates he has raised $400,000 to Hedrick’s $65,000 – and this time Hedrick won’t be riding Obama’s coattails.
Pougnet, on the other hand, just reported raising $200,000 to Bono Mack’s $165,000. Game on!
Of course if Obama cannot fix the economy then Hedrick and Pougnet, not to mention Krom, are TOAST.
Are there any other Democrats challenging GOP incumbents in the OC so far? I think if Debbie Cook actually got the right organization going she could take a good shot at ole’ Dana again. Other than that I think Miller and Royce are pretty safe. Its still early in the campaign season though.
Bono Mack is probably the best chance at a Dem pickup in 2010. She’s being attacked from the left and right. Any thoughts Art?
Art,
I wouldnt count Bill hedrick out so quickly. he has amassed an impressive base of support among dems and independants. His showing last election was incredible even if he had Obama on the ticket. his istrict is pretty heavily slanted in favor of reps.
I understand that hi showing last year has attarcted the attention and resources of the DCCC and the DNC for the upcoming election and they are committed to pouring resources into his race.
I will be oin hand for Bill hedrick in the next election and I have a donation waiting to send him.
You may or may not know, but Bill hedrick was my 6th grade teacher. He is one of the teachers who helped me learn to read write and speak fluent spanish at an early age.
calvrt has so much baggage that he is carrying around that his base of support is beginning to tuen away from him and his profile is diminishing among the GOP due to his status as one of the most corrupt members of congress.
I feel that Bill hadrick is goign to really win this one and I will be there to help him along.
I like Hedrick a lot and think he could have a chance, the only problem is that Hedrick was able to take Calvert by surprise the last election. Now Calvert will be working hard for his seat. Its going to be tough, but it is possible.
#2,
I am going to try to intervew Hdrick. He seems ike a great candidate. We know what to expect from Calvert…
“prototypical Republican Congressman”?
What is that? Racist against white people? Let’s be consistent please.
#5,
Actually, I was referring to that “used car dealer” look that appears to be so popular in the local GOP elected set.
