This campaign is not about partisanship, it’s about leadership – – Beth Krom, July 2009
In the most recent notification to her supporters, Irvine Councilwoman, Beth Krom, rolls out her agenda on Eduation, Environment, Health Care and the Economy LINK Beth is running against incumbent, John Campbell (R), for the 48th Congressional seat in California. Here is the map of the cities within the district: LINK ( 48th includes: Irvine, Foothill Ranch, Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Aliso Viejo, Tustin, and parts of Newport Beach & San Juan Capistrano). Most agree it will be a close race where there will be little room for error in campaign strategy by either candidate.
From her email:
This past month has been a challenging time for our family. To lose our son Noah just a week shy of his college graduation has been a painful lesson in the fragility of life. With the support of family and friends, we have been able to grow through this experience and remain focused on the future.
My decision to run for Congress is about building a brighter future for the citizens of the 48th and for all Americans. I believe in the strength of our nation and remain committed to bringing positive, effective representation to our district. Thanks to you, our campaign has steadily gained strength over the four months since we launched. We have averaged more than $1000 a day in fundraising. Our volunteer ranks continue to grow. Throughout the district, I have been encouraged by the incredible show of support. My public service has been an extension of my belief in the value of family and community. Thank you for joining me in my effort to ensure that the people of the 48th have a strong, effective voice in Washington. Time is precious. Let’s work together to build a brighter future for everyone.
And for twitterfreak Jill, here is Ms. Krom’s twitter to help keep you informed (last update was June 10)
It’s sad to see a person who just lost a child seeking publicity like this. Beth should be mourning the tragic death of her son, not chasing her political dreams. Sad indeed.
She should get a real job and help society instead of trying to suck off the public teet.
The first two posts are ridiculous. I think that Ms. Krom can make decisions for herself in regards to how she uses her energies going forward from the loss of her son. Irvine has benefited by her two terms as Mayor and her continuing leadership on the city council.
Still not betting on either candidate until there is some substantial confirmation that one or the other has the strongest message and the tightest campaign in order to win this race.
I’m a Democrat but can’t support Ms. Krom. She sat on the Toll Road board for years and years and never stood up against it.
Follow the money.

Campbell is a slut for the machine (a whore gets more contributions.
#4 – Democrat, welcome to OJ
do you have a link to those claims? It must suck to be a true democrat in OC. You guys lose all the time. Your leadership sucks too.
#5 Kenlaysnotdea -I looked at the link. what was I supposed to see? I saw that PAC money was much larger than individual contributions for Campbell for the last race. I see that he has a minimal war chest right now.
However, I didnt see anything about Beth Krom and her funraising. Was I missing something?
