Los Angeles Wildfire update

“Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is urging residents who live near the massive Los Angeles-area wildfire to listen to authorities and evacuate if ordered,” according to the AP.

Three people were burned when they ignored evacuation orders – they are receiving medical care and their condition is unknown.

At least 6,600 homes have been evacuated near the four-day-old fire, which is burning in the San Gabriel Mountains north of Los Angeles.

“When California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger finally signed the state’s hotly-contested budget for the 2009-2010 fiscal year last month his fire-fighting agency suffered a severe blow.  Millions of dollars were suddenly removed from the new operating budget for Cal Fire, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. And the final year of a three-year contract for use of a valuable aerial firefighting tool was canceled,” according to an online source.
