Get Sick then Go Broke: The Health Care Reform Argument

The President discusses a staggering new report from the Treasury Department indicating that under the status quo, around half of all Americans under 65 will lose their health coverage at some point over the next ten years. He pledges not to allow this future to unfold: “In the United States of America, no one should have to worry that they’ll go without health care – not for one year, not for one month, not for one day. And once I sign my health reform plan into law – they won’t.”  – –   President’s Weekly Address: Losing Insurance Can Happen to Anybody.

When the issue of Health Care Reform first started being discussed, I was mistaken in my assumption that the “uninsured” were people who “chose” to go without health care for their own reasons.  As the discussions have unfolded it has become clear that the insurance monopoly have been taking money from healthy people, but if one of their “insured” gets seriously ill, those health care companies can employ a variety of tactics to drop the sick person from coverage. Being sick and being left for broke is not acceptable! Critically ill people who have been abandoned by their profit-driven health care insurers is a scenario that should not be permitted to happen in our great nation.  Our citizens deserve better.  It is going to take a huge effort to get fair & affordable health care regulations passed when there are so many wealthy politicians out there working against us all.

Joe Wilson baffooning as a Jerry Springer Show guest is not helping us.

Nancy Pelosi backing down on the public option just hours before her big-money  UnitedHealth lobby-daddy announced a HUGE fundraising event to benefit her campaign is NOT HELPING US.

Max Baucus’ Nightmare Health Care Proposal would actually FINE people who opt out of the system for religious or other reasons IS DEFINITELY NOT HELPING US!

These are just a few of the troublesome players – and for anyone keeping score, I presented ONE Republican and TWO Democrats that are really trying to game the system for their own benefit at the expense of the rest of us.  Don’t let any of them distract you from getting  facts straight. The upcoming Reform will affect all working class and small business America.

Set the bar high:  Demand that we get the SAME Health Care Coverage as our  – -Cough- – Cough!– “Representatives”.  Settle ONLY for a robust public option, single payer or universal health care coverage.         We’ve been played out long enough.
