Who will run against Chris Norby for Mike Duvall’s Assembly seat?

Marty Simonoff

Does Brea Councilman Marty Simonoff have a chance against Supervisor Chris Norby?

Termed out Supervisor Chris Norby is an absolute slam dunk to replace disgraced former Assemblyman Mike Duvall.  So who will run for Norby’s Supervisorial seat?  And will Norby face any opponents as he waltzes into Duvall’s seat?

“I’m looking at the rules for filling vacant supervisoral seats and if Chris Norby wins outright in a November election – that is, getting 50 percent of the vote plus one ballot – there would be a special election for supervisor called between 56 and 70 days after he vacates the seat. The winner of the special election for supervisor would be seated even if he or she failed to get 50 percent of the vote – there would be no runoff,” according to the O.C. Register.

Fullerton Councilman Shawn Nelson, who is an ally of Norby, will continue to run for Norby’s Supervisorial seat.  He will easily win, in my opinion.  Orange County Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly is going to get blown out – mark my words.  There are too many other Democrats running and Daly has already been forgotten by most folks in Anaheim.

I do expect a few local elected officials to try to take on Norby.  Brea Councilman Marty Simonoff may run, according to the Red County blog.  I expect that La Habra Councilwoman Rose Espinoza may pull out of her Supervisorial race and try for Duvall’s seat too.  And the Democrats already have a horse in the race, John MacMurray.

Norby is going to win Duvall’s seat, period, end of story.
