Remember when Supervisor Janet Nguyen voted against letter grade restaurant health ratings? And then we revealed that her husband, Tom Bonikowski, and her Chief of Staff, Andrew Do, co-own a Lee’s Sandwiches in Stanton that has received some 40 health violations? That story later hit the AP wire.
We then discovered that Nguyen had received contributions from dozens of restaurants that had also received major health violations. And the O.C. Register found out that Bonikowski works for a company that provides food to various school cafetarias. Yep, they have been busted too.
Well, apparently Bonikowski and Do did not learn their lesson. Their restaurant got busted again on Oct. 21. Here is a list of their most recent health violations:
Improper Holding Temp of PHF (60F-120F), (50F-59F)
Improper Holding Temperatures of PHF
Inappropriate Sanitizer Level/ Lack of Test Strips
Unsanitary Equipment/Utensil/Linen/Plumbing
Lack of/Improper Handwashing/Handwashing Sup.
Lack of/Unsanitary/Condition Walls/Floors/Ceilings
Evidence of Vermin Activity/Presence of Animals
Nice. But if you visit their restaurant you won’t find the C grade they deserve, thanks to Nguyen.
Is it really so hard to run a clean restaurant?

The answer is YES!!
Lam,
Not true. It is obvious that the staff at this restaurant is under-trained.
The violations keep coming because the owners don’t care about safety or quality.
Typical Republicans.
Thats gross. i wonder if Chris Prevatt and Phil Becerra meet up there for lunch time?
Art, you know from my posts that I do not like Janet Nguyen. But on the subject of keeping a clean restaurant that meets standard, I have to be fair and say that is it not easy. I know a few restaurant owners and let me tell you, it is not easy. If staff from the health department or code enforcement wants to go strictly by the book, they can find many things wrong about a restaurant. This is true for major restaurant chain like Sizzler and others, and specially true for Vietnamese restaurants because pf they way they prepare their foods. Most Vietnamese restaurants are on the “sh#t list” with the health department, so Nguyen’s restaurant is hardly unique. I’m not proud of it, just stating the fact.
Lam,
Look at the violations. They all have to do with hygiene and sanitation – not the food itself.
These people are running a dirty, disgusting establishment. You cannot do that and expect to get away with it for long…
Trust me, Andrew Do does not care if we get sick from eating at his restaurant. Drive by his GG home tonight, he is not home. How easy it is with a 3 car garage in Santa Ana to quietly sneak in to the home. Unless he is caught coming or going, he can continue claiming to have nothing to do with this home. Someone took the trash out Wednesday. There was plenty of it. Andrew Do is a stone cold liar saying he has nothing to do with his Santa Ana home. It is quite the eye-opener to look into the eyes of an unscupulous politician. Andrew Do and Janet Nguyen should take notice of what happened in San Jacinto.
“vermin activity” Nice!
