So there I was earlier tonight, making calls for the John MacMurray campaign. (Even though the Green candidate is a brilliant lady and a friend of mine, the worthy progressive John actually stands a chance of getting the 50% + 1 he needs to win Tuesday.) And John comes up to me and says “I read your story on the Fair yesterday; you’re right, we really need to stop that sale.” And we talked about that for a little, until we both realized – if he manages to get in to the assembly, he could be just the person to stop the sale! (If Solorio hasn’t already done it.)
As I may have mentioned, sources close to Assembly Leader Karen Bass have assured us that a bill to reverse AB 22’s sale of the Orange County Fairgrounds would have no trouble sailing through both houses of the legislature; they say all they need is an Orange County Democrat to step up to the plate and “carry the bill.” And so far (as of today) Solorio is remaining a double-talking enigma.
As the far-right Chris Norby and the carpetbagging nepotist Linda Ackerman claw each other to ribbons, I’m sure this Fair controversy is the last thing on their minds. But not wanting to assume anything, maybe somebody should ask them. Oh yeah – Ackerman. Wife of Dick. Illegal lobbyist for the sale. Well, scratch asking her, I suppose.
Still I don’t want to be the one to make Derailing the Sale a partisan issue when to this point it’s united Orange Countians of all stripes. So does someone who knows Chris Norby want to ask him his position on the sale? Bushala? That ball would be in your court.
As for now, all Democrats, independents, and independent thinkers in the 72nd AD who value our fair, the choice is clear – Vote MacMurray on Tuesday!
50%+1?
Oh, Vern, quit it. Dems don’t vote in small turnout special elections. Remember the 1st District Supe race? Republicans finished 1, 2 and 4(as I recall). Umberg wandered in third.
I believe Vern, just ask Freshman Congresswoman…well I going to make a joke about the lady that ran against Rohrbacher actually winning the election but I already forgot oh yeah Debbie Cook. That’s what I meant: Ask Freshman Congresswoman Debbie Cook about Vern and his “sure things.”
Ha Ha Ha
