CFFR’s pension “reform” amounts to a sham that does nothing to fix the current pension mess, and gives state workers a Constitutional right to guaranteed pensions – something taxpayers don’t have. CFFR’s “reform” gives state workers pension guarantees superior to private sector workers. It does nothing to fix the current pension mess. CFFR’s “reform” does little to reform the generous “3 at 50″ retirement benefit that is bankrupting the state. It leaves the door open for taxpayers to pay state worker health and pensions costs in full. CFFR’s “reform” isn’t the reform California needs – eliminating pension guarantees completely.

Please oppose the CFFR pension “reform” proposal. This initiative is too little too late. It does nothing to fix the current pension mess. It unfairly gives state workers guaranteed pensions that private sector workers don’t have. Pension reform should treat state workers like the private sector workers they work for – individual retirement accounts (“defined contribution” plans), not pensions (“defined benefit” plans).
The Governor needs to know what is wrong with this “reform” proposal.
