Irvine City Councilman Steven Choi has confirmed his candidacy for the 70th Assembly District.
According to Irvine GOP Chairman Allan Bartlett, Tim Clark has been hired to manage the campaign. This is sure to rile up the out-of-touch GOP establishment, who have pretty much lined up behind ultra-con Don Wagner. Nevertheless, Choi’s name recognition and robust voter base could be leveraged into a victory.
That leads to an important question. The prospect of an Agranista super-majority grows closer. Christina Shea has a slim chance of being elected. Why would Choi abandon the trenches at Irvine City Hall?

Your link does not work- the one that would presumably reveal your name, as you intend on running as an independent for Irvine City Council. Soooo please, do tell! 😉
Red,
The link is fixed.
Please welcome Chris Moore to the Orange Juice!
Geez, Irvine Reporter plagiarized this from Red County. At least give credit where credit is due.
#3,
The first line in this post includes a link to red county.
I wrote about Choi’s Assembly campaign, by the way, last week in my post about his protest of Nancy Pelosi.
I’m talking about the Agran supermajority angle.
Welcome, Chris. What High School did you attend in Irvine? You seem very ambitious for your age, good luck!
😉
The Great Park project, love it or hate it, is going to happen. It currently is sitting around, idle, with about $65 million dollars worth of funding which could be used to put local labor to work. Shea and Choi, both are members of the party of “NO!”, have mainly served as obstructionists to getting Great Park projects underway. A supermajority will release the constant sandbagging. Choi has shown his “maturity” by wearing commie pictures at the Pelosi fundraiser. He is the ONLY one juvenile enough to think it was a good idea. It will be a relief to see him off the council, or at least in the distinct minority there.
Art, thanks for fixing the links and stuff.
irvinesque, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that with choi would leave an vacant seat on the council if elected. The real issue i want to address is why would he do so in the first place? Any speculation?
Thanks Red,
Im a Woodbridge alumni. As for the Great Park, I believe it should move forward, but with a more accountable management structure and less no-bid contracts.
The people over in the SOCCCD have been covering Wagner’s campaign for awhile – from the POV of the colleges where he is a trustee.
