GLBT Activist Opposes Perez Gay Litmus Test

Assembly Speaker John Perez

“I’m going to come out and say it,” declares GLBT activist Dante Atkins, “I believe that John Perez’ sexual orientation is playing a role in the ongoing fight over who becomes the next Speaker of the Assembly here in California.”  Even as Speaker Karen Bass prepares to anoint (latino union-hack) Perez as her heir, his rival, (latino union-hack) Kevin DeLeon, refuses to give up the fight. DeLeon, says Atkins, may hope to play the gay card in seeking votes from Republicans, who “still see being gay as some sort of terminal character flaw that leaves one unfit for any public or private responsibility”.  (Of course, any Republican who votes for either of these two should immediately resign in disgrace.)  Nevertheless, “California Democrats support full and total equality and acceptance of the LGBT community,” declares Atkins, “It would be a shame if one of our own used the issue for personal gain.”  Atkins is right about that – identity politics (gender, ethnicity, sexual preference, religion) is abhorrent.
