Ruh roh! “Rep. Parker Griffith, a freshman Democrat from Alabama, will announce today that he’s switching parties to become a Republican,” according to Politico.com. To make matters worse for President Obama and his fading blue party, Griffith is an oncologist and he is going to cite Obamacare as the reason for his party switch.
Why does this seem like a foreshadowing of things to come in the 2010 mid-term elections? As lame as the Republicans are, I suspect they are going to retake control of Congress.
Obama has been nothing but a failure on every front. And he has failed some of his core constituencies as well. We still have no amnesty, no reversal of DOMA, and we haven’t pulled out of any wars yet.
As for Obama’s lame health care reform, most Americans are aghast. It will be his Waterloo.
So sad. He had potential. How awful Obamacare that it would chase a Democrat out of Congress and into the arms of the GOP? Aye Dios!
“Obamacare.” Nothing but GOP talking points. Obama didn’t write the bill at all.
We can stand to lose a few Blue Dogs anyhow – next time around maybe we can get a public option or Medicare Buy-in!
From Alabama, looks to me like he is just trying to pick which party he needs to be in to keep his job.
The way the republicans are currently shooting thier own, perhaps he should think twice, there may be someone more conservative waiting to take him out in the primary, now that would be justice!!!
Obama is laughing all the way to 2012. The more we Republicans can be denigrated as the “southern regional party,” the easier Obama’s 2012 campaign will be.
Another wealthy, grey-haired white guy from Alabama only feeds this narrative.
Now, if we could a flip *outside* the old confederacy…..
Apparently, RedState Republicans are none too happy with this switch, either.
