Daren Nigsarian, a Democrat, announced today that he will be running again for the La Habra City Council in 2010.  Nigsarian works for the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

Nigsarian came in fourth in last year’s La Habra City Council race.  Three candidates were elected.

Nigsarian had the support of fellow Democrat Rose Espinoza, who came in second, behind Republican Tim Shaw, the district director for State Assemblyman Bob Huff.

Here is Nigsarian’s announcement, which was sent via email to his supporters:

Good friends:

All of you were wonderful supporters and mentors during the 2008 La Habra City Council race. We ran an excellent campaign that gave us first runner-up status and brought the important issues of roads, business and the budget to the forefront. In advance of any press release, I wanted you to know first that we will take a second run this November. Mayor Steve Simonian will not be running for re-election, creating an open seat, and the Mayor will be serving as my campaign Chairman. It will be an important election, as very tough budget choices face all local cities in the following years; balancing the needs of public works, public safety and community services will be extremely challenging. I know I’ve gained the skills to meet this challenge, and with your continued support and encouragement, our campaign will be successful this November.

Thank you again so much for your earlier confidence and belief in my candidacy and I hope you will join us again this year. Let’s talk soon and please call anytime with thoughts or ideas. And Happy New Year!

Daren Nigsarian
