Dave Leckness, Mission Viejo’s new vice mayor, has asked bloggers to write something nice about our city so here goes. For the past two or three years we have supported a paint program. No, not graffiti. Funding via a Community Development Block Grant under the CDBG program.
“The paint program is now being offered to the residents of Mission Viejo to improve their homes. A grant for painting the exterior of the home is being offered and funds are available for up to a maximum of $5,000.”
Art. Does Santa Ana offer a similar program? If not, why not?
1. Applicant(s) must be an owner-occupied City of Mission Viejo Resident
2. Exterior painting only and minor termite repair, color subject to City approval.
3. Assets must not exceed $70,000, not including subject property value.
4. Gross Household Income cannot exceed the income limits for the last two years and current status as determined by HUD.
i.e Household size 2 Maximum gross annual income. $59,500
Household size 5 Maximum gross annual income $80,350
“Interested parties may contact the City of Mission Viejo Housing Rehabilitation Office on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at (949) 470-3026 for information and an application.”
I have confirmed with the city that while the deadline for this years applications was January 21st, they have extended the program indefinitely until the funds runs out. For some reason interest in this program has tapered off this year. Participation will be based on a first come first served basis.
Dave. This is to serve as my positive Mission Viejo story for the month of February.
Looking at the qualifications I believe Dan Avery might want to include the painting of his aged vehicle also.
no way, there are prople in MV who make less than 60K a year?
Cook. Anyone engaged in the real estate industry
While there are many nice things to say about Mission Viejo, there are not many nice things to say about its city government. Good for Larry to find something.
Only in Mission Viejo will you find a recalled council member who strangled his UCI co-worker, be recognized with a city plaque and then receive a standing ovation from members of the audience that included former council members who were convicted of numerous Brown Act violations, as he vacated council chambers.
Mr. Hoover.
Sorry but this is to be a positive post about a Government Grant and not acknowledging how painful it has been to Trish Kelley to lose her right hand man.
When is the last time you ever heard of giving an award to an employee after he is fired? Amazing!
Larry, stay on the thread. OK
Love it Larry. Didn’t that feel good? Thanks for sharing stories like this, I look forward to what positive story you’ll come up with in March. Here’s one I just found out about: if any residents are traveling away from their Mission Viejo home for more than a few days the city offers a daily free visit to the house with a walk-around from one of our uniformed safety officers. Keep it up Larry.
Well you guy do have a great sidewalk chalk show that is fascinating.
Cook. Please don’t give away my next positive post.
“Side Street Strutters” on Sunday March 14th. I plan to plug this fundraiser event later this week.
Dave and I did have a positive discussion today. What a difference from interacting with Lance.
Sorry. I must write on the chalkboard 100 times that “I will not mention Lance again, I will not mention lance again.”
Now if I can only remember what I just wrote.
