John Quincy Adams would be happy !!!
Dare I say it? The Orange Juice blog defeated Red County…
Art. I would be curious to see how “Jerbllle”, correctly spelled, spins this result!
Justice and Virtue Triumph !!!!!!!!!
Cost of the recall aside, I have to smile… a good-natured Democrat on the Mission Viejo city council!
I’m pretty sure Mr. Leckness helped with a lot of copying for the Derail the Sale folks the other day, too.
Vern. We have used Dave’s Kwik Kopy print shop for political flyers for the past 16 years. You might send some business in his direction. Let me also say that the president of the Democratic Club in Casta is more conservative on financial matters than Trish, Frank or Lance, all RINO’s. He attended last night’s victory party and visited our home with his lovely bride earlier today.
Good afternoon Juice readers. Just another day at the office. Yesterday evening I wrote that we were on a roller coaster as we awaited the ROV results only to learn that another 1140 votes were still uncounted. Not to jump the gun again a few minutes ago I spoke to Brent Rowley, Communications Director of the ROV, to verify that this is the final count. Amen!
19, now that is close.
More than 75 percent of the voters desided not to vote at all.
Cook. That’s the sad part of this story. I remember addressing the OC BOS during the Nguyen-Nguyen fight to take over the First District when everyone lost. I say lost in that 150,000 registered voters stayed home in that very tight election whihc might have avoided the protests.
It’s real simple. Voters are fed up with politicians.
Voters are also very apathetic unless they have a horse in the race. Sounds like 75% don’t care on this one.
Don’t go patting yourself too hard on the back. You barely won by a whisper and replaced Lance with a complete imbecile. All you so-called watchdogs managed to do is bitterly divide your community. People cherish stability above all else, and this ridiculous campaign to recall a politician who could have been voted out ten months for free haused chaos and havoc. The evidence is found in the vote count. At the end of the day, when this whole debacle is a distant memory, everyone will realize that this wasn’t about getting rid of a crooked politician, it was an ugly display of vengence, spitefullness and a radical fringe element’s desire to publicly humiliate a public person. You people are nothing more than bitter malcontents, know-nothings content to spend the rest of their days searching the skies for black helicopters and boogeymen.
Do you watchdogs have any idea how ridiculous you are? Do you realize you come off like spoiled children throwing tantrums? You have made Mission Viejo a toxic place to live. This town doesn’t need your help, doesn’t want your opinions and doesn’t subscribe to your silly antics. You are malcontents with axes to grind. these so-called watch dogs no doubt spent their early years running from daily beatings. Believe me, I know the type of people you are. What a complete circle jerk this election was. I hope Dave turns out to be worse than Lance. Mission Viejo deserves exactly what it gets. I also can’t wait to see that old crow, Connie Lee answer for her voter fraud charges. And I wonder if that tax cheat Dale will even bother to stop cheating the system he professes to save from itself. What a hypocrite. Well, at least you old coots have one foot in the grave.
Poster above wrote, “I hope Dave turns out to be worse than Lance”
Does this mean that you admit Lance was a bad?
This is Democracy..this is direct democracy at its best and only a loser would resort to name calling and wish for bad things to transpire.
Well I’ll be kriffed. 19 votes.
I miss all the oldpeople stading at oso and margurite with signs for Tyler. One of them told me to “get off his lawn.” There was no one there under 80. In the future, please refocus yourefforts on Matlock mysteries.
To all those losers.
Give it up already. The final bell has rung and its a new day in Mission Viejo. I just visited Dave at Kwik Kopy after a breakfast meeting where we agreed that the healing process is now beginning.
And for today’s Register Editorial you are all wet.
While one or possibly two residents mentioned forming our own police department that is a bogus assumption.
We get more bang for the buck by contracting out that function and it has served us well for the past 20 years. While not perfect, we are a safe place to live and work.
Wayne Quint. What’s your spin today?
We will hire some 80 year old Pinkerton Detectives to police our city?
There is more to the OCSD union involvement in this election that eventually will surface. Stay tuned!
Just goes to show, every vote counts. Next up, getting Winsten and Maddox out of CUSD!
Nice job Dave. I think you will bring some normality to a counsil that is really been a joke for a city that doesn’t have any real problems. What is Dan Avery going to talk about now. Someone may want to send a cop to his house to make sure he hasn’t hung himself.
Dr. DiPietro protests too much!
You see, Recalls..like that of Gov. Gray Davis..all the way down to a local Judge are part of the California Process and if the
person is Recalled by one vote in a three man vote or by 100,000…..we are proud as punch that Arnold got the nod. Your choice again? Hmmm…we will just have to cogitate on that!
How much division was caused by that Recall? Nothing more than already existed..we believe!
If I’m not misremembering, Avery backed Leckness in case the recall went through. So he probably hasn’t hanged himself. (Although he was going off the deep end there, in his e-mails with Art…)
Hiram Johnson…be
praised!
“Hold on…hold on..Heartbreaker…got another little piece of your heart now baby!”
Brother Vern.
You are correct. Dan Avery did support Dave Leckness. Art posted my photo of a man I believe to be Dan standing in front of a banner reading vote NO on the recall while saying vote for Dave.
I walked past Dan and his wife Victoria as I left city hall on Monday night.
This senseless recall was not needed. The City was required to squander $270,000 for a vote that has only helped to escalate divisiveness. Lance did nothing that required a recall. A group of malcontents did not get their chosen person (Dale) elected to the Council and the City is a better community because of this. This was the actual motivation behind their recall effort and they failed! I am very relieved. Dave is a fine person and he will make sound decisions for the betterment of this City. Note to Paul – he is not an imbecile (far from it). I disagree with your analysis of Dave. I know Dave and there is no reason for your nasty negative comment!
A difference of 19 votes on the recall in a City of this size is not a victory for anybody. Anyone who claims a mandate is being ridiculous! I too was very disappointed with the low voter turnout. I have talked to several people who thought (in error) that they had to vote YES on the recall before they could vote for Dave. I believe the actual mood of this City is to relay a determined message to the proponents of this recall = to stop your persistent negative attacks on the leadership of this City. We live in the safest and finest City anywhere! We need to be very thankful for our quality of life. We should all try to come together to ensure this environment continues in our City. I do agree that we need to be very careful with the City tax money we spend in the future. Example – I believe the money spent on the Rose Parade float was wasteful and not a good decision. The voters have spoken and said they do not want to change the overall way that this City has been managed. They understand how fortunate they are to live in Mission Viejo. We are truly blessed. Let us be grateful and come together as a community!!
Dave Leckness is a joke. I can’t believe you people expect him to be a better politician than Lance Maclean.
Renee. Over 70% of our voters didn’t even show up to vote. That’s a larger issue that needs to be addressed. And by the way, I did not vote for Dave.
Why is someone who has run a business in the city he lives in for 25 years a joke. He also spends time trying to help the community better by doing things like the chamber of commerce, planning commisions, and now counsil. He does have a family to, so he is dedicating extra time to his community. What have you done in the city Renee. Probally one of those people who put a sign in my yard without my permision. Do something for your city instead of whining and insulting other people trying to make a difference.
MISSION VIEJO UNITE WROTE: Lance did nothing that required a recall!
I beg to differ in this order:
Tried to increase taxes by supporting and promoting Measure K .. which the voters rejected by a large margin… After that the voters should have rejected him also..
Led the charge to spend $400,000 on a useless rose parade float.. Then people complain about the waste of $275,000 taxpayers money for his recall!
The last straw that led to decide for his recall was the Lifetime healtcare benefits he voted for himself.
Now while it took TWO others councils members to make this bad decision..why him and not the two?
Because Mac Lean’s poor self-control is a huge liability and an embarrassment to the Citizens of Mission Viejo with ..ANGER ISSUES (Including Assault and Battery on a UCI co-worker).

His uncontrol anger spills over during coubcil meeting with his ARROGANCE – INCIVILITY – DISRESPECT !
Dr. Frank Lieberman, the respected Fun with Chalk festival organizer, DID NOT DESERVE Mc LEAN brutal verbal attack during the july 6, 2009 Council meeting. Judge for yourself

MISSION VIEJO UNITE claim:A group of malcontents did not get their chosen person (Dale) elected to the Council and the City is a better community because of this.
I have never met Dale Tyler (neither Dave Leckness). The former said his first order of business as a Council Member would be to agendize the Lifetime Health care issue, to RESCIND IT Dave Leckness want to maintain the status quo. So I voted for Dale Tyler!
Couldn’t this have waited until the general election in November ?
NO! I supported the recall and its $275,000 cost instead of waiting for next november election ..because it is almost IMPOSSIBLE in a general election to DEFEAT an INCUMBENT with access to special INTEREST CAMPAIGN MONEY money, COUPLED especially with many candidates SPLITTING THE VOTES.
With the $100,000 Mc Lean got from outsiders like the Police Union he almost pull it off with all kind of lies, like the No Recall signs “No new taxes” when the proponents were trying to save taxes.
I did not see it as a waste of taxpayers money! I saw it as an INVESTMENT to then SAVE the taxpayers the current and future lifetime health benefits Cost estimated at $270,000 per council member over their lifespan, which Mc Lean, Ury and Kelley voted for. Since 3 council members could currently qualify..rescinding it would SAVE the taxpayers $810,000.. and much more if future council members also qualify after serving 3 consecutive terms.
Unfortunately Voters do not seem to be able to look beyond the tip of their nose!
