Tell your friends not to drive by Rosita Park on Friday night!
“Officers may stop any vehicle at the checkpoint, which will be in the area of 1000 N. Newhope St., near Rosita Park. The checkpoint stops will begin at 7:30 p.m. and are scheduled to go until 1 a.m,” according to the O.C. Register.
If you think that these checkpoints are about stopping drunks, you are wrong. Too often these tactics are used to seize cars drive by immigrants and others who are unlicensed drivers.
To do this in Santa Ana, right now, while the U.S. Census is trying to conduct its 2010 Census, is ridiculous!
According to an O.C. Register Watchdog report, 79% of those arrested at SAPD DUI checkpoints are Latinos. And get this – athe SAPD impounds, on average, 4.5 cars for every drunk driver they catch!

My experience has been that it is not the illegals, the ones right off of the boat who cause problems..it’s the second, third, or fourth generation Cholos who are the Mexicans who are breaking our laws. From what I’ve seen the mojados work hard in multiple jobs and really make good neighbors. I miss being able to get men to work in my yard on Chapman Ave now that Orange is cracking down on them.
well lets see IT IS ILLEGAL to drive without a lincese . if you dont have a license to drive ARE YOU ABLE TO DRIVE IT IS ILLEGAL . if you dont have your registration . or insurance IS IT ILLEGAL TO DRIVE . IF YOU come into the country without papers IS IT ILLEGAL . once again another off the hook comment by the hispanic activist . OH AND THE MOST STUPID THING OF ALL . I TAKE IT THIS ARE IS 90 % HISPANIC SO WHAT PERCENT OF HISPANICS DO YOU THINK THEY WILL CATCH .
#2 has it right. Simple math as to how many % of residents are Hispanic in SA and relative propensity to break driving laws by race would equal 79% or thereabouts. If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.
POST 3 THANK YOU . TAKE A BOW . ITS CLEAR YOU SAW THIS . I DONT SEE WHY OTHERS DONT .
Hey now, the people working on the Census 2010 do not want to be involved in an accident with an unlicensed and uninsured driver.
To work on the Census, you do not need to be a US citizen, but you do need to be a legal resident with a drivers license and insurance.
The cops should be working hard to take these accidents waiting to happen off the roads, that’s for sure.
People who drive without a license, whether they never had one or had theirs suspended for cause, are vehicular terrorists and need to be stopped regardless of their immigration status. Good work, City of Santa Ana!!
Book-em, Dan-O
good lets crack down on these nonm american scum bags
