Doctored ACORN Tapes – the dirty details!

So, commenter Mr. XYZ’s tip last week was solid:

  • James O’Keefe, in every visit to ACORN offices, far from “posing as a pimp” as the popular myth has it, gained workers’ trust and sympathy by pretending that Hannah Giles was his girlfriend whom he wanted to protect from a violent abusive pimp;
  • While “punking” the workers thus, he dressed in “normal casual business attire,” and didn’t don his comical pimp get-up until later filming his entrances into and exits from the offices, to splice onto his tapes afterwards.
  • All the talk of “tax evasion” or “tax fraud” is pure retarded confusion – in every case, ACORN workers correctly advised Hannah on how to pay her taxes without legally incriminating herself for prostitution – as any lawyer properly would.
  • Despite all the incendiary nonsense about “child prostitution” in the media, the only talk on that subject in ACORN offices was about how to protect these alleged child prostitutes from El Salvador, and get them away from the alleged pimp!
  • Everything exculpatory of ACORN was either edited out of the tapes, or obscured with subsequent voiceovers.
  • As I already reported here, ACORN workers in San Diego and Philadelphia not only did nothing wrong but called the police on the suspicious duo, whereas the San Bernardino worker dealt with the clowns by concocting her own tall tale of murdering her ex-husband.

There’s really nothing left that ACORN should even be embarrassed of, let alone slandered and deprived of funding for.  And, even though the scumbags still refuse to let us see the undoctored tapes, all of the above can be proven by the transcripts they themselves still have posted up at BigGovernment.com, which differ dramatically from the edited tapes we’ve all seen.  (D’oh!)

And the above-referenced analysis here, if you think you can refute it.   I won’t add much to my summary above, although I’d like to give you a few little tastes of the scumbags’ boundless sleaziness, right from their own scumbag mouths.  Put yourself in the place of minimum-wage ACORN workers who are there to help poor, desperate people:

O’Keefe: well the reason why we are rushing is because she was working for this pimp and he was very abusive…

Giles: He has been really aggressive toward me ever since I met him because I wanted to leave because it is scary being subjected to a huge man who has control over your life…

Giles: He’s got all these 13, 14,15 year old girls from El Salvador and that’s what—I need to protect them like I know what its like and I have to protect them and like give them somewhere to live… because they’re underage girls, and they’re young, and I think that if I was able to get them and work with them that they’d be safer than with the pimp…

O’Keefe: She’s also there’s she’s also gotten
Giles: I mean
O’Keefe: the pimp has really like beat her up.
ACORN: Oh I know. I mean I, I. Yeah.
Giles: Yeah. He just is scarring.
ACORN: Yeah.
Giles: Anyway, so there’s been a rebellion process and
ACORN: Right.
Giles: And I’ve really tried to figure out how I can make it on my own and not be subjected to
ACORN: Right.
Giles: an evil big man…

[Update on Ms. Giles:  Now that her co-conspirator has got himself in serious hot water in the Big Easy, she’s throwing him under the bus – “I am shocked by the reports of this behavior. I am well aware that following the law is an integral part of being a good investigative journalist.”  Hey Hannah – If you’ve suddenly discovered a conscience and hope for redemption, then come clean on what you did to ACORN!]

“Mr. XYZ” waxed eloquent in that same comment:

I think it’s very disturbing to see that people have a problem with people who help others to escape very dangerous situations – then again, as that South Carolina lieutenant governor said it, they are only “stray animals” who must be starved.

Apart from the obvious fact that ACORN has always been a Republican target simply because they register mostly Democrats, it is plain anti-black RACISM that drove both the “sting” and the unquestioning credulity of everyone from FOX News to Juicers Quinn, Crowley, and the Grate One.  It just makes perfect sense to these people and goes without saying, that anyone black and working in the inner city with poor people must be involved in prostitution and sundry illegal activities.

And sure enough, young, privileged James O’Keefe III has squeezed in quite a bit of documented racism into his short and obnoxious life.  From harassing Planned Parenthood with offers of money earmarked only for abortions of black babies, to holding “affirmative action bake sales” on campus offering low prices to minorities and inflated prices to whites, to being thrown out of the Rutgers dorm for using the n-word (a charge he denies), to handing out literature at a white supremacist “symposium” in 2006… there’s no getting around the fact that his ACORN caper was the final grand chapter in a career of racist pranks.  (And this liberal blogger does not throw around the word “racist” easily.)

The fact that after all the harm he caused to a great organization and the thousands and thousands of needy Americans it serves, he may get serious punishment for the relatively harmless crime of messing with a Senator’s phone system, reminds me of something.  What was it… What was it… Oh!  I know!  It reminds me of how OJ Simpson scandalously got off scot-free for killing two people, but finally had the book thrown at him for attempting to retrieve his own sports memorabilia in Las Vegas!  Justice delayed is better than nothing, huh?

Finally, I just got this letter from my friends at ACORN, who would like your help in demanding an investigation into what O’Keefe and Giles did to them.  Funny,  scumbag svengali Breitbart has also been stridently calling for investigations, I have no idea why, but it sounds like we all want an investigation.  Personally, I can’t wait to see ACORN exonerated and awarded substantial damages, the scumbags exposed and punished, and above all the credulous sloppy media and spineless Congressional Democrats wearing sackcloth for slack-jawedly running after any shiny object the rightwing hate machine dangles in front of them.

Dear Vern:

The perpetrator of the ACORN “sting” videos just got stung. Last week James O’Keefe, the videos’ maker, was arrested in New Orleans. As evidence of his alleged law-breaking in pursuit of an extremist agenda, he was charged with entering federal property under false pretenses for the purpose of committing a felony at Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu’s office.

I don’t find this a bit surprising given how he made and edited the ACORN videos. But the thing is, this latest round of alleged law-breaking could have been prevented. That’s right!

Back when he was stalking ACORN acorss the country, he videotaped ACORN folks without their consent. And that’s illegal in Maryland and California, two states targeted. Now that he’s proven that his law-breaking isn’t a one-shot deal, we are demanding that the Attorneys General in California and Maryland conduct formal investigations of O’Keefe’s actions from last year. O’Keefe’s arrest comes directly on the heels of a spate of investigations and court decisions that have exonerated ACORN in the wake of his attack videos. The Congressional Research Service and former Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Harshbarger have already concluded that it was O’Keefe, and not ACORN staff, even those fired for acting inappropriately, who broke the law in the undercover videotapes.

In the wake of the videos, ACORN has taken serious and aggressive steps to address management weaknesses, including a phased introduction of new procedures based on the recommendations of Mr. Harshbarger. This has built on an existing internal reform process that had been gaining momentum throughout 2009, but was thrown off by the witch hunt engendered by the tapes.

Regardless of the impact on ACORN, the fact remains that the Attorneys General for California and Maryland should be investigating O’Keefe’s actions at our offices in those states, especially in light of what has happened in New Orleans. Tell them to act now to investigate his illegal wiretapping from 2009.

The good news in all this is that is shows that we are on the right side of history – and so are you. By stepping up to demand an investigation of O’Keefe’s actions against ACORN, you are taking at stand against the attack media and its corporate patrons who are trying desperately to silence progressive voices and stop progressive change.

Make no mistake, it is ACORN’s success that has made the Glenn Beck/Karl Rove/Sarah Palin crowd so determined to destroy us. According to a study by the New Organizing Institute (NOI), an esitmated 865,000 people cast ballots in 2008 that had been successfully registered by ACORN since 2004.

Today ACORN members across the country are fighting to resurrect and improve the historic health care bill in Congress. And throughout 2010 we are going to continue fighting so working families facing foreclosure can keep their homes, unemployed families can get jobs, and the Wall Street bankers who got us into this economic trainwreck are held accountable.
