Yorba Linda Mayor Endorses Craig Hunter for Orange County Sheriff
(Yorba Linda, CA) –Today, Yorba Linda Mayor John Anderson issued an enthusiastic endorsement for Anaheim Deputy Chief Craig Hunter in the race for Orange County Sheriff.
“Chief Craig Hunter has sterling qualifications and a proven track record, including over twenty years of police management and supervision in one of California’s safest cities,” said Mayor Anderson.“Chief Hunter has proven he knows how to manage a large officer force and balance department budgets, in both good times and bad. Along the way, he’s also been instrumental in developing homeland security and community policing solutions that have gained national acclaim.”
“Just as important, Chief Hunter is highly regarded by law enforcement leaders throughout our County,” continued Anderson. “And, having spent most of his career right here in Orange County, he understands our communities’ unique public safety needs. That’s why I am convinced that Chief Hunter is absolutely the right candidate for this job, and I’m proud to support him.”
John Anderson was first elected to Yorba Linda’s City Council in 2006 and was recently chosen to serve as Mayor. He currently serves as an Assistant District Attorney for Orange County, specializing in gang suppression. “This major endorsement reflects the top tier support Chief Hunter has been receiving in his campaign for Sheriff, and it demonstrates the continued desire by Orange County’s leaders for new direction at the Sheriff’s office,” commented Hunter spokesman Tim Clark.
As Anaheim’s Deputy Chief, Craig Hunter oversees all daily police operations of California’s tenth largest city, including the department’s nearly 800 full-time and volunteer members, and a $120 million budget. During his tenure, Anaheim has earned national acclaim for homeland security and community policing, and the city is recognized as the safest among California’s ten largest cities. Chief Hunter has also implemented numerous cost saving procedures that have streamlined spending, eliminated waste, and created more efficient use of taxpayer
dollars.
Chief Hunter holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Chapman University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Command College, POST Leadership Institute, and the Delinquency Control Institute at USC.
Craig and Lisa Hunter live in Yorba Linda with their four children. Chief Hunter is a volunteer Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America and has two sons who are Eagle Scouts.

Paid for by Craig Hunter for Orange County Sheriff 2010
He currently serves as an Assistant District Attorney for Orange County, specializing in gang suppression.
O yeah and he really has made a difference in the gang population – suppression does not come to mind!
Gangs have increased in Orange Country at an alarming rate..
Bill Hunt for Sheriff!
Craig Hunter WILL be the next Orange County Sheriff!
Chief Hunter is a strong candidate with a solid law enforcement background with the management experience we need to get this county back on track! He is the person we need to bring integrity and transparency back to the Sheriff’s Office. He certainly has my vote.
Craig Hunter has what it takes to be our next Sheriff. Period.
As a supporter of Bill Hunt, I like wht he brings in terms of experience, attitude and integrity, with that being said, Craig seems like an OK second Choice…. So whomever you support, PLEASE VOTE ANYBODY BUT SANDRA… She is a menace to the County, and to the Office!!!
“Craig Hunter WILL be the next Orange County Sheriff”.
Bet you a Audi TT … I was born to drive the TT.
“the management experience we need to get this county back on track”.
I am sure the man is very nice, but if he can’t help manage the gang problem, then i am sorry he is not what we need.
We need a guy who has the integerity to stand up for what is right at the cost of even his own career. We need a strong individual who values this country over political correctness…
BILL HUNT IS THE MAN FOR THE JOB… HE BETTER BE, CAUSE I DONT LIKE BEING LET DOWN!
Finally, Our elected leaders are starting to notice that there is a better alternative to supporting the “status quo”.
With Hunter in the race, there’s a better choice than appointed sheriff Hutchens (who can’t seem to even control her budget, let alone the department).
I’m sure Hunt is a nice enough guy abd would be my second choice but his only claim to fame so far is having successfully LOST the race for Orange County Sheriff…
That leaves exactly one qualified candidate – Craig Hunter.

Michelle, gang crime is way down in Anaheim. The city went a whole year without one gang homicide. That might not be true for the rest of Orange County, but Hunter’s not in charge in the whole county (yet) just Anaheim. It sounds to me like he knows what he’s doing on the gang issue. If we make him Sheriff, he can bring that success to all of Orange County.
“Michelle, gang crime is way down in Anaheim”.
Tell that to the People who live in Anaheim/Anaheim hills.. Sep 2009, a meeting took place regarding that residents of the city of Anaheim and Anaheim were seeing an increase in crime..
Anaheim has become the ugly step sister to Santa Ana.. Schools are awful, you can no find a decent school to send your child to in Anaheim. neigbourhoods that were once beautiful look like TJ..
house prices in Anaheim reflect the down ward spiral of Anaheim.. Just ask the residents!
Bill Hunt all the way!
“deadwhitemales”
My God, don’t tell me you self-propagated! How?
Just as long no ones supports that loser Backstabber,Jumping Jack Anderson who did nothing but try and ruin the Depatment when he was Acting Sheriff!!!!This loser had No support among rank&file and everyone was happy to see him gone.
Hunter has my vote….
Hunt is simply not electable… A vote for Hunt gives Hutchens the job.
I support Craig Hunter and will vote for him to become our next Sheriff.
