Will ObamaCare give free Viagra to rapists?????
“Democrats killed an amendment by Republican Sen. Tom Coburn to prevent the newly created insurance exchanges from using federal money to cover Viagra and other erectile dysfunction drugs for rapists, pedophiles and other sex offenders. The amendment failed 57-42,” according to Politico.com.
“The vast majority of Americans don’t want their taxpayer dollars paying for this kind of drug for those kind of people,” Coburn said.
Wow. How out of touch are the Democrats?
Are you really going to pretend that you do not know what the real purpose of the countless amendment dumps of the last few days has been all about? Coburn had more than a year to submit the amendment, why do you think he waited until yesterday? BTW – do you anti government types really want “big brother” doing back ground checks on everyone that signs up for insurance? Your post is totally disingenuous and you know it. You are no better than a cheap misleading campaign flyer.
Thought for sure this was the latest Crowley masterpiece when I saw the title.
Do I need to get you a list of all the goofy, insane amendments the Republicans are trying to attach to this bill to slow it down and kill it?
Admin,
You need to learn how to spot a Repug red-herring;

Dems To Oppose The Most Alluring Of GOP Reconciliation Amendments
Democrats in the Senate say they are so committed to passing the House’s version of health care reconciliation fixes verbatim, that they are willing to vote against even the most alluring and unobjectionable of amendments — from legislation banning Viagra for sex offenders to language adding the long-elusive public option.
In what is the final act of the health care reform saga, the Senate on Tuesday began debating reconciliation fixes that the House of Representatives passed two days prior. The process includes a period of what could be unlimited amendments, during which it is widely expected that Republicans will try their best to get the legislation changed.
The idea is that by securing even a slight adjustment in the language, the Senate will have to send the bill back to the House of Representatives for reconsideration. Drawing out the process makes it more likely for it to be tripped up.
On Tuesday, the GOP put its strategy into action, with Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okl.) introducing an amendment beyond agreeable. Titled “No Erectile Dysfunction Drugs To Sex Offenders” it would literally prohibit convicted child molesters, rapists, and sex offenders from getting erectile dysfunction medication from their health care providers.
While it will undoubtedly be difficult for Democrats to vote against the measure (one can conjure up the campaign ads already), the party plans to do just that.
Oh! Just noticed you went Coburn one better with your Rove-like photo caption. Coburn who wants capital punishment for abortion providers.
Vern,
Slow morning brother. Figured this post would wake folks up in a hurry.
Mission accomplished! 🙂
Hello I am awake, Most plans that I am aware of do not cover Viagra or the other sex helper drugs anyway unless they are Cadillac plans.
I would support a seperate bill or an executive order to assure that no federal money goes to any sex helper drugs. Then we do not have an issues about having to have doctors check on the status of thier patients legal history, which would be very complex and add to costs.
I have been an insurance agent for 12 years. Most health insurance DOES cover Viagra/etc.
As far as the name-calling – the words Democrat / Minority / 2010 election will all be in the same sentence soon.
The lengths to which Obama and his crew went to force this down reeks of tyranny.
No way do we want Congress to start legislating who is entitled to what care. This is a slippery slope that feeds right into setting up death panels and other bureaucracies to decide who is and is not entitled to a given treatment.
There. That caption’s better. Now it’s not a lie, but the goofy humor remains.
My God, #8!
No way do we want Congress to start legislating who is entitled to what care.
Are you actually saying that Congress SHOULD give Viagra to rapists? Well, I disagree with you. The rest of you don’t worry, nobody is going to prescribe it to them.
And Coburn can pass this as a law whenever he wants, nobody will vote no. It’s just one of 40 silly amendments the GOP tried to throw in to gum up the works.
Violent Sex offenders should be kept locked up, if we did this we would have no need of discussing this issue, it would be irrevelant!
